ANN wrote:The North American comic publisher Marvel has confirmed at its Marvel Animation panel at Comic-Con International on Saturday that Blade, X-Men, and Planet Hulk anime are being produced in Japan. The Planet Hulk project will be a direct-to-DVD movie produced by the Madhouse anime studio for a 2010 release. Marvel had previously revealed that Madhouse is animating the Iron Man and Wolverine characters in Japan for Japanese audiences.

I think ANN needs to fix date, as the panel had to have been on Friday and not Saturday.

Also, here is trailer teaser for Iron Man and Wolverine. All I can say for the Wolverine one is, what the crap?

Great...more anime based on American comics.

I swear though, Batman Gotham Knight was really good. I hope these Marvel projects reach to Gotham Knight's level, but NO SPIDER-MAN? What the heck?

Well... I hope these are better than Gothic Knight... I absolutely hated that. I think that still ranks as the most disappointing anime I ever bought and my least favorite in my entire collection. So I hope these surpass that by far.

I'm not a big superhero fan and I don't even care for many of the american made comic hero movies that have come out save the Dark Knight and I feel even that is overrated. But these look good :D Particularly Wolverine.... I never liked Iron Man so meh but the Wolverine one looks great!

Wolverine looks OK, but I never saw him as a bishie type XD We'll see on that one :P.

The Iron Man looked amazing as far as animation goes! 8D

Is there any news on who is writing these episodes?

Anyways, Marvel and DC's recent direct ro DVD offerings have been very good. Hopefully these will follow suit.

I don't even think he looks like a bishie. He looks like an animated Joe Dirt with claws.

My brothers are crazy Iron Man fans, I'm sure at least two of them will watch the anime if it's any good. ^^

The Iron Man anime looks pretty sweet, but ugh. That Wolverine trailer looked AWFUL. Whoever made the Wolverine anime should be sacked, and then their replacements should be sacked just to be safe. Seriously that thing is just...bad.

This.

Iron Man looks awesome, but what on earth is going on in that Wolverine trailer? If it weren't called Wolverine, it might be awesome, but since it is, I have to judge it accordingly: he has a fierce mullet, looks like some kind of Fushigi Yugi reject (and I LIKE Fushigi Yugi), and is cutting up some kind of giant demon made of bats or something stupid like that? Really? That has to be one of the the stupidest things I've ever seen and is an affront to everything that makes Wolverine Wolverine. I like my Wolverine to have more body hair than Burt Reynolds and be chomping on a cigar as opposed to this... this tragedy. It's one thing to reinterpret something, but if you're going to call this character Wolverine, he should at least be recognizably Wolverine. Apart from the claws, he looks like some kind of Fanfiction.net yaoi fodder.

Can someone please fire the laza at whoever drew Wolverine. He looks like a bishie vampire. He's a berserker not a bishie vampire. It completely destroys his image.

Also the fact that he was fighting some sort of demon was really a turn off. If he had been fighting Sabertooth or one of the Brotherhood villians, I would be more accepting, but a demon bat warrior? Come on.

Also the fact that there is a Hulk anime and no Spiderman anime is complete blasphemy. Spiderman>>>>>>>>Hulk.

I'm not too excited about this I was never really into Comics when I was growing up (I mostly just liked Godzilla and Video Games) and I especially don't care much for the Hulk.
But I might watch them if I get interested although it's kind of disappointing Spiderman isn't there since he is one of the only comic book characters I actually care about besides the X-Men.
Also I wish they would focus on a different X-Man besides Wolverine I have always thought of him as rather dull and the most boring of the X-Men (Probably just to me I know he has a lot of fans I just don't like him that much)

I'm honestly giddy over the Iron Man anime trailer. It looks fantastic, and got me excited for what's to come.

Wolverine...not so much.

Sup guys, this is tangentially related, but I am sure that you won't mind that I am going to introduce you to this X-Men shoujo manga. No need to thank me.

About the wolverine anime, they totally lost me with the hair thing. There actually is a manga about Wolverine. Except he's supposed to be a teenager in this series. If you ask me, they seem to stick closer to the real Wolverine with this:
http://www.randomhouse.com/delrey/manga/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780345505163

But I must say, about the preview, giving wolverine a mullet and making him not as hairy as he is supposed to be....that's just a sin to the comic world. He looked more like himself (only younger) in the manga. But since it's just a teaser preview, you never know how they might change the storyline. I'm hoping they stick close to the original storyline. But that Iron Man thing looks good. And about the X-MEN shojo manga......that just ruins everything I love about x-men....for me anyway. I'm not really into shallow love dramas. But I REALLY loathe it when the writers stray TOO far from the original storyline, or change the characters and stuff like that. You know what I mean?

He looks definitely bishie to me. Almost like the manga Wolverine.

I did love that triple slice down the front of that last monster demon thing.

EDIT: Ah, someone mentioned the manga Wolverine before me. Trust me, it's not that close to the original--appearance-wise, yes, but he's never been in Japan, he's only 17 years old or something (comic-Wolverine's around 150 or so), lives in a dojo, hasn't run into Weapon X or Sabretooth, in fact mutants are barely mentioned, if at all. Still, it's a good story with great art.

Yah, but still there are other things they stay true to. For example, the story obviously takes place before he met the X-men, and he has bone-y claws instead of metal ones (he hasn't had his antamantium skeleton adapted on yet). And wasn't he at one point in his life trained in samarai martial-arts? And he's in Canada, not Japan (according to the overview) I would like to read it though. I guess I should be careful with what I post from now on. Reasearch before you spout anything out as a fact..... oops......eh-he. :3. Anyhow, you are right Sirthinks2much. Sabertooth is supposed to be his brother, course I forgot his real name. And they should have made Logan older, or set it in a place and time line that would correspond to his actual age. Sorry for any inconvenience.

This is a bit relavant, anyone ever read the Marvel Mangaverse?

Granted it is Marvel trying to ape the manga style, but the takes on the characters were quite amusing.
