Anime (old or new) that you want licensed.

I haven't seen a thread like this, so I'm starting one.
An anime that I want licensed? Double Zeta Gundam. Because the only fansub we can find of it sucks big time. I want to watch it on nice DVDs with a good translation, dang it. Because it's a good series. Better than its predecessor, Zeta Gundam, if you ask me. We got Zeta in the US; why not this? I don't know about anybody else, but I'd be perfectly fine with a sub-only release. Hearing Puru get dubbed would probably be horrific anyway. XD;;
I hope this topic isn't too controversial. >_>;

I think the reason why we haven't seen Double Zeta Gundam release here is it maybe due to the music. Yes, I said music. Bandai had bend over backwards just to get Zeta Gundam out. Some of the music had to be change in Zeta Gundam, because they would need copyrights for the music and some of the people that did the music are no longer around or said no.
I think Bandai is rethinking this now and why they are pushing the newer Gundam series out now then the older UC stuff.

As for me, I would love to see the rest of Macross release, as Macross: DYRL movie, Macross II, Macross Zero, and Macross F.
But that will never happen, untill Harmony Gold gets their hand out of the cookie jar and stop trying to pass it off as Robotech.
I'm not too worried about Macross 7 and I know that even if Harmony Gold lets the rest of Macross be release, they will not be able to release Macross 7 at all.

Absolutely Baccano.
I'd also like to see Monster licensed, niche audience though there may be. XD

My fiance would wet himself if Victory Gundam got licensed. I think he'd buy it no matter how much they asked for it. XD
I'd also like to see some old mecha stuff get a release, though I know the chances are not good. Stuff like Great Mazinger, Voltes V, and some of the Yuusha series (e.g. Yuusha-ou GaoGaiGar).

Would this be what you are looking for as GaoGaiGar?

There is an ancient one that a fansubber is slowly turning out as a side project (at a rate of about 1 episode per century) that is hilarious. It's called "Mama is a Fourth Grader". Imagine a kid receiving custody (through an unexplained time-warp involving a TV and a bolt of lightning) of her future daughter (as a six-month-old baby).
I got my number-one wish last year with "Cat's Eye". So dreams do come true, folks.
Others? Let's see... "Fighting Beauty Wulong" has a certain Baki the Grappler / Street FIghter appeal. I think it would actually be a good move for one of the distro companies to pick up. I second the motion on both "Dennou Coil" (one of the best Sci-Fi stories in any language in the last couple years) and "Ghost Hound." (A little rushed at the end, but a solid story.) "Princess Arete" would be a good one.
Any others? Hmm.... how about "Goshogun"?

Legends of Galactic Heroes and the rest of Kodocha top my (apparently eclectic) list.
Galactic Heroes is possibly the best of the "space operas" and has long been sought be old fans like me. After a very lame and failed bid to bring it to the states a while back, it'll probably never make it.

Oh, I was just using GaoGaiGar as an example of a
Yuusha series. I'm talking about the other ones like J-Decker and Fighbird and stuff. I want to see J-Decker because I like the opening song. XD Oh yeah, and Might Gaine! I saw the first five episodes of that fansubbed, but the group hasn't finished subbing it so I haven't been able to finish it.
I would also like to see some Doraemon make it to the States, but I understand that's asking for a miracle.

Hmmm... DEFINTELY Mazinger Z (and it's related properties!), Macross: DYRL, Getter Robo, Space Battleship Yamato (oh, yesh!!)... GoLion (I heart Voltron for the nostalgia factor, but... no. GoLion, FTW.)... that's all I can think of now...

I feel like everyone on the planet wants Monster licensed (that's all I ever hear when someone mentions Monster...). It's like the biggest "niche" ever.
I want to see Saiunkoku Monogatari re-licensed (it's a Geneon drop, but it's a great series with a pretty specific audience). Also, Romeo X Juliet, because I MUST have those beautiful DVDs and I want more merchandise!
Other than that... Baccano would be nice.

Your in luck, Go-Lion will be release by Media Blasters on May 27.

Doraemon. Come on, I know you guys want to see why this is still one of the most popular titles in Japan after so long (like the 70's I think?)

That is not fully true. The 1973 Doraemon series was not very well like and fizzled after only 26 episodes. The 1979 Doraemon is the one that became popular, which still runs to this day with over 2,000 episodes total to this date.
And I don't want to see it, sorry. I don't have that kind of time to watch all of the 1979 Doraemon series.
Another vote for Baccano!

I'm just curious how Voltes V will turn out there if in case it does get licensed. It's a social phenomenon here in the Philippines, for one (I'm not kidding; you can Wiki this show for details).
It will be a miracle if the Eldoran series (Raijin-oh, Ganbaruger, Gosaurer) would ever get licensed there. But like ShiroiHirkari, I doubt this will turn out to have a good chance; and if it does, how will the US audience will respond to it would not be that good as well.

Yeah, my fiance is a big fan of Voltes V and told me about how immensely popular it is over there. Pretty soon, I'm gonna get around to watching it myself.
Generally, it seems that Americans don't like mecha shows, which is a shame because almost all the ones I've seen so far have been good. >_> So the chances are really slim. It sucks. XD

I would like to see some of the older Magic Girl shows that haven't been licensed in America get their chance. As long as the licensees didn't suck them up by dumbing the dialect down with 'Valley Girl' voices.

Or we can burn all remaining copies of "Mew Mew Power", and follow that by a properly done release of "Tokyo Mew Mew"!!!!

Four people for Baccano!
Also, Oh! Edo Rocket and Kara no Kyoukai - Garden of Sinners would be welcome. And possibly Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji ("Kaiji").
Not even the Japanese can get a copy of Phantom Blood.

Bandai did say they would bring all Gundam series over eventually, but that was years ago, and their policy may have changed.
I'm expecting Baccano to be licensed at some point.
All of Gonzo's stuff gets licensed, so RxJ is pretty much a given.
Viz seemed to be shopping around Monster several months ago. What that means I cannot say.
I'll second Dennou Coil.
An anime that I want licensed? Double Zeta Gundam. Because the only fansub we can find of it sucks big time. I want to watch it on nice DVDs with a good translation, dang it. Because it's a good series. Better than its predecessor, Zeta Gundam, if you ask me. We got Zeta in the US; why not this?
I find that interesting. That's a rather uncommon opinion. Not to go offtopic, but why do you prefer ZZ over Zeta?
I ask this question as someone who has seen ZZ, but not Zeta.

MasterDias wrote:All of Gonzo's stuff gets licensed, so RxJ is pretty much a given.
Oh, I know that it will be. But why I said its taken so long is.
Last year on the Japanese web site for RXJ, they had a trailer and it said, english version trailer and it said coming soon. It was posted last year and then Funimation had previously sent a letter, on behalf of the anime studio Gonzo, to request that a fan group cease and desist its subtitling of Romeo ×]Gonzo Halts Romeo×Juliet Fansub with FUNimation's Help[/URL]
The only thing that I can see the hold up is, if talks didn't end well and FUnimation is not getting it.

Well, in Zeta, almost all the major characters irritated me in some way (with the exceptions of Quattro, Bright, Henken, and I guess Emma). I felt like it wasn't very well-written and the ending was lame.
ZZ is a lot of fun to watch. I'm not done with it yet, but so far I've enjoyed it a heck of a lot more than Zeta. The characters are good, the story has been good so far, and I like the overall tone of the series a lot better.

Second the motion on "Oh! Edo Rocket." And not just because they borrowed a great song from one of my favorite Japanese groups for the ED. (The OP was by Puffy, unfortunately, but the first ED, '100 miles' by SanTara, is greatness.)

It's been licensed by Media Blasters. All 3 volumes have been released. In fact, there is already a box set out.

Meh. I want Sailor StarS licensed. But that's a far cry. XD
I've watched the whole SM series in Japanese and English (Except Sailor StarS of course.
). I would like to see SM StarS in English, or really the whole SM series re-licensed for American sales. . .
