As of late, I have found myself in endless forums and wiki searches for this show but still cannot commit to buy this title!

Has anyone here seen this show? If so, whatcha think? :)

I'm watching it at an anime club I visit on Fridays. I came in a bit late, but it sounds kinda meh to me. Different from the Gundam series, but meh. Artwork is really good though.

Like most other anime, it kind of depends on what you are looking for.

I found the show refreshing, although I think it had problems deciding whether it was a slice-of-life drama, a high school version of space opera, or a science fiction tale. I thought the premise was very creative. I don't know whether human beings would act the way the main characters did in the show given the circumstances. In a lot of ways, it was your typical "Japanese middle school students work to save the world" kind of pablem.

I had the advantage, though, of renting the series. It is definitely worth renting. I have a substantial anime collection, but I decided not to buy this one. Maybe that tells you more clearly where it fell in my assessment.

I bought the entire series for $32, and that's pretty much the amount I feel it's worth. The second half of the show is rather weak in comparison to the first half, which was simply average.

Thanks for all the replies! I do enjoy slice of life stories, so I am used to slow pacing and sometimes mediocre premises that develop into more. I have watched the Gundam Series (mainly: SeeD and Destiny...could not stand Wing >__<)...I should check my local rental store to see if it's there ^__^

Aside, from weak content is their anything questionable within the series I should be aware of?

Oh, every anime in my opinion is only worth thirty bucks! What can I say I wait until I find it used or incredibly reduced due to an overstock in stores :D

One of the things you need to keep in mind in regards to Stellvia is that it is a Geneon title. That means you might have problems locating it.
I have vols. 2 and 3 and really enjoyed watching it myself. Then again one of my favorite VAs,Michelle Ruff,is in the dub,she plays(ironically enough for anyone who has ever watched Dual)a character named Yayoi!

Yes, I am aware Geneon went under :sniffle: It's so sad! All those titles meant to be released now gone into oblivion! I love Michelle Ruff (Rave Master! Last Exile!) She goes right up there with Luci Christian and Hunter Mackenzie Austin as well as Chris Patton, Steve Blum, Jessica Boone...yeah, the list goes on. What can I say I love my VAs! ^__^

But now that you've mentioned it the anime Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure (after wiki-ing ;) ) looks like a really good show! Is there anything in it I should be aware of? Or just violence, language..?

Well, then my point should be that much more valid: I would pay several hundred dollars -- and I mean $500+ -- for some series if I had to.

Well, that wasn't exactly what I meant. I would never pay $500+ dollars for my favorite anime series because I'd rather give my $500+ to charity, my bills, etc :) I just think anime sets are overpriced some ranging from 100s (the most expensive being Inuyasha sets) to the lowest I have seen is $40.00 which are the not so popular series like for example Legend of Himiko and older titles like Magic Knight Rayearth, that could be due to their manufacturer though. Even single volumes are priced at $30 sometimes $20 if you're lucky. Now, I am going by in store prices not online.

Plus, I've noticed if you wait for that $100 dollar season set, it will go down in price on store shelves too make room for new titles. So, instead of paying $100 you'd pay between $50 - $40 which is more reasonable to me.

I believe they do this inflation due to it's lack of sales but retailers believe that if they buy an X amount of quantities they'll sell more but really the demographics for anime sales are young teenagers to older teenagers and some adults but let's face it with places on the Internet subtitling it for free, for example youtube.com (though they have gotten better with removing such content) most people would rather watch for free instead of buying it. Not to say anime hasn't grown in popularity in the States but just take a look at the "Manga" section in your local bookstore, there are rows on rows of shelves stacked full with new and old manga but atleast twenty people on weekends reading it for free.

Anyway, that's just my 2 cents on the matter that and I am notorious for being 'frugal' with my money spending. I mean why pay more when if you are patient enough or see it used somewhere to get it for less! :)
