Has anyone watched this anime?

I know that it wont be exactly be a hit favourite here of all places due its more adult nature but I just finished watching it a few days ago and I am still unsure whether I am upset, confused or just down right scared witless by the ending.

Anyone else been brave enough to take it on?

I started reading XLG's translation of the manga. I'm not quite sure what I think of it yet, tho...

Am I getting into something over my head here? O_o

Edit: Oh my GOSH! I just read the Wikipedia article. If the manga is anything like that... @_@
*is too shocked for words*
Shame... I had already begun to become attached to the manga characters.

*sits in bewildered silence*

I wouldn't say that your getting in over your head as such although it does deal with some more adult material, such as under age relationship and the consequences.

I've only watched the Anime but if I believe they follow the same lines and I don't want to give anything way but I suppose I should warn you your in for a far from happy ending. In fact its down right heart breaking.

School Days' ending leaves a bad taste in my mouth, because it was the product of popular demand. School Days is drawn from the visual novel of the same name, and of all the multiple plot lines and endings the studio could have gone with, they went with a mixed bag of the "Bad endings," all of which were infamously violent.

Visual Novels are essentially fully-illustrated "Choose Your Own Adventure books," usually with some romantic undercurrent. That said, bad endings are just what they sound like; bad endings. The routes you wanted to avoid, you, acting through the lead character's eyes. These endings were bloody and horrible because they were supposed to turn people off to it. But instead they became riotously popular. People complaining and hating on Matoko's actions in the Anime have only the target audience to blame. And now it's famous for all the wrong reasons.

The viewer's choice ending became fairly obviously a couple episodes in, so I never bothered with the Anime adaption.

I have to agree with Fish and Chips although I didn't read around about the Visual Novel till after I had watched it (as I have a habit of doing to avoid spoilers).

I think there is a definitely a harsh moral point to be made by this although I remain unconvinced that was the intention. -_-

Still, I am personally glad I watched it, even if it made me so uneasy at times.

P.S Thanks Fish, in hind sight that picture creeps me out way more than anything the Anime came up with. 0__o

The visual novel was making a moral point. The Anime was just a sensational trainwreck.

Just a thought... does the manga follow the same storyline? That's all I want to know. As I said, I had started reading the manga. I hate to drop a story in the middle, but if it turns out like that... :eh:

Still listed under the 'Tragedy' genre, so my guess is that it will follow the anime's storyline, or possibly one of the other Bad Endings.
