Most annoying anime character

OK, this thread is to post the characters you find the most irritating from various animes. Please, no flaming, no put-downs, and similar. Simply post your opinions, and what it is about them that irritates you. Whether you like the series itself is immaterial, this is referring to just the characters.
Personally, it's a toss-up between Nahga from Slayers, Momy from Handmaid May, Poemi from Puni Puni Poemy, and Mihoshi from the various Tenchi series.

I would have to say Happosai from Ranma 1/2. I enjoy the series very much but never cared for any episodes that he appeared in.

Not really a specific character...but I don't like those girl character that just stand by and whimper and cry when the main guy character is getting beat up for her sake; this mostly happens in Korean dramas so... XD In this vein, I don't like it when main girl characters are portrayed as weak and stupid and highly dependent on a boy.

Any one-dimensional character that exists solely for comic relief. That means I dislike the entire cast in some series.
As far as specifics? Of the series I follow I don't think any character strongly annoys me. Raki in Claymore is fairly pointless and I question if his presence weakens the integrity of the series, but he's not all that annoying.

I don't really like Sai from Naruto. It was pretty obvious that he was one of those "last minute characters" that Kishimoto just felt like throwing in there. Even after his character development, I still felt he was awkward and didn't really fit the plot.
Hmm, that seems to be all for now. I usually don't find many characters annoying.

Hmm. I don't know that there've been many characters that I disliked just for existing. I generally watch pretty serious shows, and so far they've all been very good, so there haven't been many pointless characters. With the possible exception of Peppo in Gankutsuou; I found her completely unneccessary except for one or two instances where she helped move the story forward a bit. Of course, there are characters in every anime that I like less than others, but...outright annoying? I don't think so.

Many of you are too young to remember these, but hopefully you have seen some classic anime and will know what I'm talking about. A particular character type has always deeply annoyed me, but I'm not sure how to describe it. Let's just say, mouth entirely too large for face, especially when talking or crying. In older anime, you will find these characters on a constant basis.
Sticking to titles more people are likely to have seen, what I'm taking about is such characters as the dream demon in 'Beautiful Dreamer' (one of the Urusei Yatsura movies), Jinpei in 'Gatchaman' (aka Keyop in BOTP) or C-ko in 'Project A-Ko'. No resemblance in the characters themselves, except that annoying enormous mouth while talking thing.

Forgot to explain why I find them annoying. Nahga's because of her "evil sorceress" laugh (you all know what I mean), Momy because every single sentance she says has "Oh my," "Oh my my," or something like that in it, often with several strung together in a row! Poemi is just plain annoying, especially how she talks nonstop at about three miles a minute, and Mihoshi is just plain too clutzy for me.

Shippo from Inuyasha.Do I have to say anything more?
voice wise I find Chibiusa in the dub of Sailor Moon Super S to be rather annoying.

In my opinion there are too many to name just one from my memory. Although truthfully I avoid this snatch as a lot of the series I watch are serious so there isn't room for such characters. XD

Kaorin from Azumanga Daioh. I think Azuma just threw her in for comic relief/someone who Mr. Kimura has a creepy crush on. Eew. And like EricTheFred, I also hate Jinpei/Keyop from Gatchaman/BotP.

Just picking one, I'd have to say the title character of Tenchi Muyo!.
I describe him thusly: "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, some have greatness thrust upon them, and some take that greatness, spit on it, wad it up into a ball, and toss it back where it came from."

I used to get irritated with Urihime (sp?) from Bleach 'cause she was a bit of a wuss at the beginning, but so far now, I like her.
Miaka from Fushigi Yugi is also currently getting on my nerves.
And lastly, Nyu from Elfen Lied. COME ON!!! 'Nuff said about that character.

If I had to pick one off the top of my head, I would have to say I find Shippo from Inuyasha as annoying as a papercut when making lemonade.
Reason being? Well, it seems as though he doesn't really bring anything to the plot other than just uber-cuteness which, lets be honest, got a little tiring after a couple of episodes!
Honorable Mention has to go to Kagome. Seriously, she just makes my skin crawl--from the way she treats Inuyasha, to her undying loyalty to that freaking school uniform. And lest we not forget, the 3000 "Inuyasha" cries per episode does wear on one's nerves.

Actually if you read the Inuyasha Character book there's a reason given why Rumiko Takahashi decided to have her wear her uniform-it's rather
sturdy and durable and easily can wash out all the dirt and blood.

I don't really like Renge from Ouran High School Host Club.

Kou Uraki from Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory.
I just never like Kou at all. I know that he was a newbie pliot for the Federation, but he was clueless crybaby that never really grew up to have any leadership as a pliot.
But what really got me was one scene.
Was when his girlfriend shot him in the side. He starting to ask why she did that and he kept telling her that he love her. All I could think at the time was, dude! When your girlfriend takes a gun and shots you, it means that she wants to see other people.
Heh, yeah. Renge's kind of annoying.
My vote, however, is for Naruto Uzumaki. Believe it.

Orihime. As for myself, Kon annoys me more. Not so much for being the pointless comic relief character as for failing to be as interesting as he first promised to be.
K. Ayoto wrote:And lastly, Nyu from Elfen Lied. COME ON!!! 'Nuff said about that character.
That really
is enough said for those familiar with the series.

Don Konoji from Bleach
Mihoshi from any Tenchi Muyo
Sailor Uranus from Sailor Moon
Sailor Chibi-Usa from the same series
Jigen from Inuyasha

That's Jaken. I know, I'm a major IY fanboy.

Granted and understood, but still, on a few episodes, we have seen her wear other things than the school uniform, and by episodes end, they're squeaky clean!

Possibly annoying, but Don Kanonji was just too colorful of a character to dislike. Come on, you know you want to do it: BWA HA HA HA~
Anyway, my list would be:
Edogawa Suzu from Tactics: Not in the manga, and proved to be irritating and pointless and lacking in character development. Was also just the token "cute little girl" and a plot device for the end of the series. =[ Boo.
Chaoji from D.Gray-man: Whiny cannon fodder. Finally grows a spine, then just turns around acts like a jerk.
Noyamano Ringo from Air Gear: Supposedly an amazing Storm Rider, but did almost nothing for a good chunk of the series. By the time she actually DID something, it was too late to save her from the "boo hoo, I have a crush" character stereotype.

Have to add in Azuza from Ranma 1/2.

I loathe pretty much any character that comes from the long line of Loudmouth Heroes Who Get By On Enthusiasm Rather Than Thought. They're annoying enough on their own, but when the whole show has to bend over backwards to allow them to come out on top, it ruins EVERYTHING.

Sounds like Tyson on Beyblade or Ash on Pokemon.
And yeah, I realized I got Jaken's name wrong right after I posted.
Another annoying character would probably be Andy from that Cowboy Bebop episode. Thank God he only appears in one episode. I HATED that guy.

Chibi Usa from Sailor Moon, and assorted androgynous male antagonists from that same series, because I hate watching and series and thinking "Is that a dude???"
Miaka from Fushigi Yuugi.
Konohamaru from Naruto.
That sidekick Whats-His-Name from Yu-Gi-Oh!GX (he was WORSE in the original Japanese!)

The fact that you actually watched that is more amazing then the show itself. XD
I know that anime is famous for stretching its limits and using all sorts of bizzare ideas to make a story, but that's just a bit much. Even sock puppets would be a better starting point.

I remember watching a few episodes with the mindset of "Okay, lemme give it a shot. Maybe it's not as bad as...OH WHO AM I KIDDING--THEY'RE FREAKING SPINNING TOPS!!!!!While on the subject of "Genki" boys in anime, one character sticks out in particular--Genki on Monster Rancher was the textbook hyperkid. His name ment "energy" for crying out loud! Slap a pair of goggles on him, and he could stand in for Tai on Digimon! (Nothing against, Tai mind you, though earlier on he could fall into the role of "Hyperactive Knucklehead." I also have small contepmt for the weepy, wispy anime girl who can't "get up the courage to confess her feelings" to the guy she has a crush on. COME ON! If you like the guy, tell him! What's the big deal?
