A while ago I was browsing through some DVDs in K-Mart, yes, the small-town type of place. There were a few boxes of $3.99 DVDs that I ignored the first time around. The next time I passed by, something caught my eye.
"Beet the Vandel Buster." An anime. For four dollars.
Later on, I found out how much it cost in the real market, according to Best Buy's little anime serial: $20.00. Same Volume 1, same packaging, same box. The difference between a small Mayberry town and a larger town is evident.
Sort of like those $1.00 Korean "animes" that I've seen floating around. Hooray for cheap entertainment.

That's a pretty good deal. I go to Big Lots sometimes and find anime by Funimation and Geneon; I even found a limited edition of the Sakura Wars movie.
Yeah I love those cheap Korean anime DVDs. They just rip off the original anime in a way that is so funny. And the titles! Don't even get me started. "The Cosmos Conquerer", "Space Transformers", "Wonder of Frontiers", "Raiders of Galaxy" just to name a few. So generic.

I've seen Sailor Moon and DBZ in the dollar general store! I'm in a small town, too. It was very interesting, but I didn't buy either cause they were VHS and I really didn't want either. But yeah, when you can find dirt cheap anime that you actually have heard of/watched/enjoy its awesome.

If only such a myth existed.
The best I've seen is a Pokemon VHS at stuff for one dollar. XD

I'm amused by knockoffs. In fact, I might actually say that I like knockoffs. So I actually rather LIKE those cheap Korean animes, in a way, because they're so kitchy they're fun.

Where I work, we get brought in consignment DVDs/VHS (aka, extras that have been sitting in the back of a factory that someone bought for cheap and sold for WAY less). I've found various DBZ,DBGT, YuGiOh (cut and uncut), Robotech, Medabots, and various other anime from and other small titles that not many know.
At Walmart I've also been able to find CHEAP Geneon/Pioneer stuff (and in that case, well, we know how expensive those are^^) I should've picked up Lain when I had the chance, I THINK they had all the volumes. They did have some Haibane so I for SURE got those^^ And now, Walmart apparently came out with the repriced, cheaper FUNI titles before they were announced to go down so low. Got half my Trinity Bloods that way^^
So yes, these legitimate deals DO exist if you know where to look^^
