I learned about this CM in Protoculture Addicts, searched it on Youtube, and this is the best hair-product commercial I've seen. It's animated by Production IG! And it's directed by the guy who directed the Kill Bill anime sequence. It's amazing.

Wow. That really is the best hair-care commercial I've ever seen.

I clicked thinking that it would be some sort of ridiculous Sailor Moon-esque commercial for shampoo, but that was actually really neat. I love the art style that was used. XD

I don't think so. It's typical IG.
BTW, according to Protoculture Addicts, it was inspired by woodblock prints.

Well, that was better then all the other generic hair commercials. XD
I loved the art style. It reminded me very much of Okami's style.

That was also the most depressing hair commercial I've ever seen, albeit nice, lol.

Actually, I think I figured out the story this was trying to portray. It's a rip of the classic Rapunzel. The samurai/ronin near the beginning sees the beautiful daughter, and climbs her long hair to reach her and spends the night by her side. The girl's father disapproves, and tells her to cut her hair so that he'll never see her again. Since this means she can't be with him, she deliberately cuts her hair too close and slices open the back of her neck as a means of suicide. The samurai/ronin, returning to her, unfortunately plunges to his death. Are the two lovers reunited in the afterlife? Who knows.
Buy Asience.

Wow Fish, when you look at it like that, it's really...deep.
I'm not used to commercials like that! I SUPPORT COMMERICALS WITH A SHORT STORY LINE! XD

Way too dramatic for some shampoo

Yes. Think Okami meets Rapunzel meets Kill Bill Vol. 1's anime sequence.

Query:
WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH SHAMPOO?!!?!
I mean, I understand the artistic aspect of it, and it looks cool, but this does not inspire me to run out and buy a bottle. If anything, it inspires me to run out and buy volume 4 of GetBackers.

Use this product, and it'll make your hair so strong it can withstand the weight of an average-sized Asian man, fully equipped with weaponry.
That's the message I'm hearing. XD

The message I'm hearing is: "Don't get a haircut or else your hair will bleed perfectly round, red blood drops and you'll die."

The art work was beautiful, but it was rather sad when the man lost his love. Such sorrow.

Actually, a better question would be: When was the last time that a commercial made any sense to the product?
At least it isn't anything like the PS3 commercials. XD

If you're wondering, Asience is some shampoo brand first marketed in Japan and then in China, South Korea, Thailand, and even Austrailia.

And here I was thinking that it was going to be an ad for
SAMURAI SHAMPOO!
You can smell like Mugen or Jin......
.....the latter is recommended.

So, the moral of this commercial is: If you use our hair care products, they guy you love with get axed.
*passes the shampoo on to the next chick*

Just make sure you read the instructions on the bottle: "Lather, Rinse, Repeat, Die."
