Ugh.....
so in some some disturbing, twisted way I forced to myself to watch 26 episodes of Tohru Honda begging, pleading, crying "please let me understand you!!! lalalala!!!!" but I must admit between Kyo and Shigure's antics it was actually sort of enjoyable, and I was little miffed when I realized the season 2 request funimation had made that I had heard about along time ago failed. So anyways is the manga worth continuing? I went on wikipedia an intended just to read out the rest of the plot but I refrained from that decision to ask more knowledgable fans.

Yes, the anime sucks. The manga is far, far, FAR better.

Oh dear. I watched the entire Anime first before reading the manga...
I can't say myself yet. But I do know that the story continues much further into the manga then the anime. And that in itself usually guarantees that the manga is better.
So I would say give the manga a try and see what you think.

In my opinion, yes. X3 I didn't read the manga for the longest time, but when I finally gave it a try, I found I liked it even better than the anime. It goes much deeper, I think, as well as progressing the plot beyond the point where the anime ended.
Besides, I love Kureno and Rin, who sadly are not in the anime at all. ^_^

I definitely think the manga is worth giving a go. Even though the anime follows the plot pretty closely, there are some scenes in the manga that didn't make it to the anime so even in the earlier volumes of fruits basket you're not just reading the anime.
As Alexander and Elycien said - the manga continues the story. It goes into things deeper and fleshes the characters a lot more as well as introducing new people into the story. Its also only 1 or 2 volumes away from being finished if I remember correctly. We're up to volume 21 in New Zealand.

First an answer to the thread question.
Yes the manga is more then worth reading. Beautiful art, deep and supremely satisfying plot and story, good emotional power. Very good. And for the most part, clean. Nothing overly objectionable.
Second:

Other people like the anime, might want to not insult stuff others like. "In my opinion the anime sucks" would have been a little more diplomatic, and far more like stating ones opinion then seeming as if one was stating a well known fact.
I like the anime, I own the anime.
Anyway, I do agree however that the manga is superiour to the anime. I also like the characters who are not introduced in the anime, and the manga is far deeper. I do like some of the elements within the anime and some within the manga. If I had to chose I would chose the manga though. Just so much more depth and story.
I however would recommend both. Both are good, in my opinion.

Except the nudity thing, which, while nudity is not SHOWN, is present. I remember Osaka using markers or something to give Rin a bathing suit in a later volume when she had turned back into human form.
Also, LOTS of talk (nothing shown, but they talk about it a lot) about sex in the later volumes...let's just say some characters aren't above being manipulative in bed for selfish reasons.
"In my opinion the anime sucks" would have been a little more diplomatic,
I thought the fact that it was in a post made by me would indicate that it is my opinion. Who else's opinion would I state?

Ok, well I am only on Volume 16 so...XD I wouldn't know.
Point taken, but still, diplomacy is a good thing to have. Bluntness can start wars...if you know what I mean

OFF TOPIC-Wouldn't this thread look better in the manga forum?
Sorry about that. I just felt it looked odd in the anime forum.

well, maybe, but I'm delving from my experiences after watching the show, and the first two options on caa.net are "general" or "anime," maybe we should get them to put manga as well?

Well the first two options are there because they are a big part of the forum.
But if your coming from the animes point of view towards the outlook of the manga then I guess its ok. So you can disregard these posts of mine then. And Im sorry to be a burden, so carry on. On topic to be more specific.

I actually enjoyed the anime so far more than the manga. *shrug*
Maybe I liked it better because of the sweet music, and because I watched it all pretty closely together, with my brother.

Rin is also shown with undetailed nudity for a number of panels of when she was first introduced.

well I started flipping through some volumes at Barnes and Nobles, and it seems eventually there's gonna be a throwdown between Kyo (woot!) and Yuki (booh) over Tohru, so I'm sorta hooked.
Though I must comment I really hate the paneling this series, the paneling is really chaotic and not very enjoyable to follow, I don't read that much manga so I don't have much to compare it to....but I've read all of Berserk and the paneling felt much more friendly (albeit blood and GUTZ left and right).

I think the anime is more useful for clarifying bits of the manga, but as a person who focuses on plot and continuity, i found the ending to be...well...anti-climactic. Of course, i started reading the manga first, so I knew the story continued and the part with Kyo isn't really "the curse" but only part of it. (the others still turn into animals...) I really liked the ending of the manga (can you believe its over???) and I think, overall, that FB has to be one of my favorite series.e

I think the manga is much better. Plus, in the anime, Momiji sounds like a girl! (...) So, yeah, I think you should continue with the manga.^^

What was annoying about momiji is that you had the voice of what sounded like an attractive (or at least cute) woman coming out of some 14yr old boy.....its just a really creepy feeling. The same reason why I refuse to listen to boys choirs.

I was confused by your question sorta at first, but NOW I get it, of course the generic bishonen boy sounding like a girl is normal, as most bishies are female seiyuus anyways, but I was watching the english dub and momiji's voice just struck me as bizarrely too girly.
