Just got this by email from the atlanime group.

Sci-fi Channel will start airing anime again on Jun. 11 at 11:00 PM. The lineup will be called Ani-Monday, and run for 2 hours every Monday and feature titles will be from Manga Entertainment.

I just check and ANN has it reported and has more details about it.

I wonder why just Monday and why at 11 PM? Maybe they don't want to mess with CN's line up.

You know, once upon a time, Sci-Fi had Pilot Candidate, and I THINK they aired something with Evangelion too.

Either way, If this takes off like I think it will, Adult Swim had better straighten up and fly right.

WOO-HOO! They used to air some great movies back in the day: Robot Carnival, Project A-ko, Galaxy Express 999, and Akira (ok, so I didn't like it, but I know it's a classic).

Oh man. This is, hands-down, the coolest thing I've heard from the Sci-Fi Chanel in a LONG time.

Let us rejoice and dance and sing in the new!!!

Too bad I lost my VCR remote, and now can't watch anything but networks... I really want to start watching anime again.

I wish they'd show E.Y.E.S. of Mars again. It was sad, but pretty good.

You got to be joking. You can pickup a replacement remote at any Radio Shack or electronics store or department section of big box stores like K-Mart, Wal Mart etc...

Replacement remotes? If you mean "universal" remotes, they don't work on this VCR... If I find a frequency which works, the buttons are all mixed up, some of them don't work at all, and many functions are missing...

I have yet to see a set specific replacement remote... Radio shack probably used to have things like that... They're too focused on selling cell phones and cell phone accessories now...

Besides that, universal remotes are sort of expensive. I don't watch TV enough to pay 30-40 bucks on a controller that isn't guaranteed to work...

$30-40 bucks?! Where do you buy YOUR Universal Remotes? Wal-Mart got a bunch of 'em for under $10!

Back on subject: I saw the list of anime Sci-Fi is going to show, and I must say I'm intrigued! Maybe I'll finally get a chance to jump onto the "Ghost in the Shell" bandwagon. (I never really got into the series)

I just saw on ANN that these other programs are expected to air as well:
NInja Scroll (movie)
Read or Die (OVA version)
Blood: the Last Vampire

The under 30 crowd won't mean much to me unless they have access to all the menu functions I need. And, you know, unless it actually would correspond with the buttons my VCR, which the universal remote I have doesn't do...

Blackjack is also on the list that will air on the Sci Fi channel.

I have always wonder if AS gave up the tv airing rights to ROD (OVA) and now we know.

Actually from what I see in the tv section of today's paper they will be re-airing
Final Fantasy:The Spirits Within tommorrow from 11 p.m.-1 a.m.
So you might also want to keep that in mind as well.

As far as the Read or Die OVA goes, you also have to remember that AS also only showed the Escaflowne movie once as well so it might just be that they lost interest in it as much as anything else. And one needs to remember that R.O.D. might not have been the direction that AS wanted to go to either when it came to anime.
I mean any series or OVA that features a bookworm that doesn't look like
a blonde bombshell might not be the type of draw that AS was looking for.
Just my thinking on R.O.D. and AS(also the fact that at the time the OVA aired on
AS G4 still had the rights to R.O.D.the tv might be another factor).

I check the Sci Fi Channel web site and it does show FF:TSW on Tommorow night from 11 pm to 1 am.

so...are they just gonna show bits and pieces of each series? Or will there be some sort of consistency?

It will be some sort of consistency. Macross Plus OVA is only four eps long of a running time of 40 mins.

Highlander: The Search for Vengeance and Ghost in the Shell: SAC SSS are movies and Street Fighter II V, Noein and Tokko are TV series.

This is what they show from June to July as showing.

According to the information in the Rightstuf catalog the Highlander movie will
feature COLIN and not DUNCAN MacLeod. In other words it occurs in one of the
parallel universes to the live action tv series. Also Colin voluntarily had
Duncan kill him in the End Game movie which is another clear sign it is not in the same universe as the series.
