Megumi Ogata's played COUNTLESS guy voices....

Eagle Vision from Magic Knight Rayearth...

Aoyama from Tokyo Mew Mew...

Haruka from Sailor Moon (although she IS mannish...)

...that's all I can think of off the top my head^^ I knwo there's TONS more of bigger roles, but ANN is down at the moment... OH! I believe she does Full Moon's Eiichi (haven't seen the show yet but knowing her voice, WOULD be a suiting roll).

EDIT: my bad it's not Eiichi, it's Izumi, which is just as suiting. I forgot :/

:D Paku Romi! Tao Ren in Shaman King, Ichijouji Ken in Digimon 02, Heimdall in Matantei Loki Ragnarok, Edward Elric in FMA, etc. One of my favorite seiyuu. ^^

Also Minagawa Junko plays a lot of male roles - Joshua Christopher from Chrno Crusade, for example. :3

Sarah Strange was the first voice of male Ranma in Ranma 1/2. While many disagree, I prefered her over Richard Cox.

Ed Elric's Japanese voice was played by Romi Paku, and Naruto's english voice is played by Maile Flanagan.

Luci Christian also did Sasshi in Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi.I read where she enjoyed doing Sasshi because of that line about pissing into space in the
episode where they parodied Sci Fi space based anime.Anyone who has seen
MSAA knows the episode I am talking about.

XD Ah! That's the more popular role that Minagawa Junko played! I knew I was forgetting something when I posted last night.

I actually saw a picture of her...she REALLY doesn't look like the kind of person who would voice a hyperactive character like Naruto!

Nothing sucks more than a Japanese stereotype, and I, my friend, am offended.

I swear no woman could play my voice better than me. They're aren't many women with voices as deep as mine.

But Naruto looses the hyperactive award to Excel.Yeah,Excel is a girl but I can't think of anyone more hyperactive.

Brianne Blevins has played lots of boys in anime dubs. She was:
  • Tsukasa in .hack//sign (this may not count though. The person playing the online character was a girl, technically)
  • Jim Hawkins on Outlaw Star
  • that kid who keeps hitting on Lain in Serial Experiments Lain
  • Kite in Trigun (the kid who's dad built the Sand Steamer)

Note: She is sometimes listed as Ian Hawk

I thought Mona Marshall did that voice (Who, as you all may know, was the voice of Izzy on Digimon seasons 1 and 2!

Hey, I'm always a fan of the geeks in anime! They help move the plotline along! Besides, how else do you think I came up with my screen name?

ANYWAY...can anyone else name any other boys that are voiced by girls?

Sure Chiara Zanni played Hokidoshu on Inuyasha.I don't know if I spelled her name right but you might know her better now as Eva/Molly on Oban Star Racers.
Though if you watch Inuyasha it's hard to believe that the creepy little guy is played by our favorite pilot on OSR.
I mean like Janyse Jaud Chiara Zanni is capable of playing creepy quite well when she has to.

I had that same feeling when I first heard Veronica Taylor do the voice of Yukino on "His and Her Circumstances"! I was shocked when I saw her name on the credits--the fact that she can go from Girlie-girl Yukino to Ash Ketchum is a tribute to her great talent as a V/A!

Have you seen the dub for Boogiepop Phantom? It's amazing how Rachael Lillis can
play someone like Nagi and also do Misty and Jesse on Pokemon.Yeah,I know none of them are guys but Nagi is a universe away from the other two and is really a tough type of girl.

Yeah. One would think downshifting from a high and bubbly voice to a melodramatic character voice would be difficult, but there are V/A's who do it BEAUTIFULLY!

One V/A that comes to mind is Amanda Winn Lee. She was the voice of Mimiru on .hack//sign, then she downshifted a LOT to do Rei Ayanami on Evangelion! I've heard her talk on a DVD commentary track, and you would NEVER believe that THIS person can voice a passive character like Rei!

The first time I heard Amanda Winn Lee was on Geneshaft where she did the main character of Mika Seido.

She tends to play tempermental characters a lot, actually. She joked in the commentary on the 1st NGE movie that she was given the role of Rei so she'd shut up.

Well Mika was a pretty tempermental character alright. Then again she had that chip on her shoulder about being the only 'White' on the Bilkis crew while everyone else was 'Purple','Blue' or some other genetic color.
If you have seen Geneshaft you know what I am referring to.

Romi Paku - Edward Elric in FMA, Katsushiro in Samurai 7 (and many others I haven't seen, I'm sure)

Rie Kugimiya - Alphonse Elric (sounds like a girl, but overall her voice acting is better than Aaron Dismuke's)

Can't remember her name, but that woman who does Orochimaru in Naruto... the one who did Ursula in Kingdom Hearts

Mayumi Tanaka; Japanese VA for Monkey D. Luffy, Kuririn/Krillin from DB, Koenma from YYH, and around thirty or more others. Not bad for someone in their fifties.

Oh, and Ikue Outani, VA for Tony Tony Chopper and about forty or fifty various other voices.
