Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex is coming to an end on Australia's SBS TV, and is being replaced with.......... Samurai Champaloo (dubbed). Looks like SBS is comitted to anime on thursday nights :) They wil be showing some movies too, by the looks of things, with Vampire Hunter D airing on March 30 after Samurai Champaloo.

Samruai Champloo.
It just ended here on Adult Swim yesterday.Rather good after you get past the first episode. It takes place in Edo Era Japan and is centered around a ditzy waitress named Fuu is on a quest to find a Samurai who smells of sunflowers. Two would be
samurais named Mugen and Jin accompany her and they have a lot of interesting
adventures and misadventures along the way.Can be a bit violent at times and one of the characters in one episode is a Gay Dutchman.

*wonders when Canada will get more anime like Samurai Champloo*. We're almost done GitS:SAC here as in... next week will be the last ep. Except for us, the new anime taking over is instead Full Metal Alchemist. *sigh* Sort of sad that here, a new anime doesn't really start till one ends :/ Well, except for many something ongoing like Inuyasha^^

Bear in mind that GITS:SAC is the ONLY anime on Australian TV at the moment, unless Pokemon/Digimon/DBZ/Yugioh is getting reruns in the mornings....

True. We aren't very lucky with our anime on free to air. Although since GITS:SAC and the Miyasaki films its been improving a little.
I don't believe Yugioh and Pokemon are still on, nor Digimon.

Wow, Samurai Champaloo is MA! I hope that's more for violence. I'm not keen on too much sex or references to it.

Family Guy is TV-14 in the US isn't it? Here its M (which is a rating lower than MA).
MA is like your heavy R movies. (An example of an MA program is '24')

Is that your highest TV rating in the US?

Why on earth would '24' get an MA here then? It is quite violent at times, but it does have very minimal language and some adult themes.

It's also worth noting that in the US, networks rate their own shows. Everything is government-rated in Australia, correct?

On a semi-related note.......I went into Sanity last night, and they had outside a prominently-displayed display box with "Anime" printed at the top, and a whole heap of Studio Ghibli DVD's on sale for $24.95 each.

Oooo! Is Princess Mononoke any good? I've only seen Nausicaa, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso and Laputa: Castle In the Sky (they were very good -except Porco Rosso). Are there any others of his that you recommend?

I've seen Spirited Away, which I really liked. I taped some of those when SBS were showing them, but I haven't watched them yet.

yes it is. It is one of my personal favs it can get a bit violent at points but nothing gratuitous. other than that if u can handle stuff about fake gods and stuff than it is a really good fantasy story.

Despite the title the main character isn't really Princess Mononoke,in fact she doesn't even show up until half way through.
