I thought the interview was superb.

Some of the comments in the forum thread related to it are very interesting reading:

I wonder if we could convince Vic to make an appearance over here.

I was also impresed by him. Actually, I've heard he worships here in Houston, so perhaps I'll get a chance to thank him personally someday.

I hope that I get to talk to him at AWA this year. Just about every year, AWA ask him to be a guest at the con.

Vic Mignogna web page.

If you want to learn more about him, here is his web page.

You'd be surprised to know that quite a few anime voice-actors are Christian.

Do you have any names [asks the Gestapo officer]?

Unfortunately I cannot recall the exact names, but I do know of at least five listed in the MegaCon guide that mentioned how they'd want to meet Jesus Christ, Paul, and other Biblical figures.

If I can find any of these names, I'll be sure to post them here.

I never really take the time to read voice actor interviews. So I find this to be rather pleasing and somewhat reassuring that there are Christian people working in the industry we enjoy. (I am still waiting for that Japanese anime professional who also happens to be a devout Christian.)

If it's any consolation, Hong Kong director John Woo (The Killer, Hard-Boiled) is.

Johnny Von Bosche is a christian too! (VA for Vash and Kiba etc...) I joined his christian rock band's website a couple months back and I asked a question on "
Why do you believe in Christ" to the members of that forum.. and he answered! It was a cool reply too..

(that wasn't meant as an advertisement

I know for sure the Johnny Yong Bosch who plays Kiba in Wolf's Rain, Claus in Last Exile, Sakaki in Witch Hunter Robin, etc. is a Christian. His big claim to fame is Vash from Trigun. He has a band name Eyeshine based outta Florida, and due to his anime connections, they've gotten to play at some cons :-)

YUP! They have! Eva-Boy are you a member of Eyeshine's Forum!

In Fact I asked JV what "Eyeshine" meant and of course it has a christian meaning to it... SOOO COOL!

I can't give you a link or anything, but, in a Christian magazine, there was a quote by him. I think someone asked him about the meaning of having doves fly around when a person dies. He said "I am a Christian. To me, the doves symbolize a persons soul going to Heaven." or something to that affect. I can't remember exactly what he said, but I'm positive the "I am a Christian" line is correct.

Yes; I read this some time ago and was also impressed. A fair number of people express belief, but few of them show signs of how serious that belief is (and some of that is due to not having the opportunity in an interview on another subject).

As an aside, though it may be merely my perception, I have not seen any recent posts of yours for some time, Omega Amen, and this one was a welcome presence.

I thought it was an awsome interview.

When you speak of VAs being Christian I am assuming of course that you have in mind the Canadian and Americans who work on the dubs over here and not so much as the Japanese. It be rather rare to find a bona fide
Christian Japanese, but I suppose there might be some who actually do
work in anime.
I think it be interesting if someone could find a list of Christian VAs and
the shows they work on.
I think like most people Christians who do work in anime are a bit quiet about their faith. So to find out what they believe you have to ask them
and ask them in a nice manner.

I'm not a member of the Eyeshine forum; I'll have to check out the site again and maybe join :-)

Actually, I have been logging on recently for several weeks, and most of my activity has been via PMs, the arcade, and even the chat room once. My internship and logistics of my lodging during that time really restricted my online activity in general.

Now back on the subject.... The reason behind my previous comment really had to do with what CAA is for. Sure we can dream and draw webmanga, but I think it is also important to make sure we express our support to the Christian professionals who are already involved in this industry. If anything, it will help them realize that there is a sizable group out there that are behind them and actually support what they do for a living. Considering that some of us expressed some frustration that some elements of the Christian community are cold to the medium of anime (or some elements of the anime fan community are cold to Christians), it is possible that Christian voice actors like Mignogna might have experienced something similar.

I guess what I am trying to say is that we should remember to encourage people who are actually in the business right now representing our faith. I am sure it helps them a lot.

(As for waiting for that Christian Japanese anime professional, I am also waiting for that a Christian Japanese anime fan to sign up here in CAA, but that is another subject for another day.)

ohh At Ohaycon last year a Christian youth conference (Dare to Share) was going on at the same time (and my friend was at it). These Christian teens were kinda being jerks to the anime con-goers, and so Vic came over and spoke with them about showing Christ's love to the con-goers. This conference was to help teens share their faith and he challenged them to see that there were oppostunities all around them. I think some of the Dare to share kids had been making fun of the cosplayers and he challenged them instead to ask the cosplayers about their costumes and stuff. It turned out really good then, and a ton of people from the anime convention ended up showing up for a few Dare to Share things as well.

When I used the word "impressed" before, I was using it lightly. Talk is fairly cheap, and good talk only somewhat more expensive. What you said there honestly impresses me.

I wonder if it has something to having their own sub-culture these days but it seems to me that certain "Christian" teens are a lot less Christian in their behavior
and attitude then when I was a kid. Then again when I was a kid we didn't have
Christian this and Christian that.
Sorry...ranting...
More postive note I began to ask around to see if anyone else knows of any other
Christian VAs.I tried to Google and use Yahoo but mostly if you do that you end
up with either actors with the first name of Christian such as Christian Slater or
Christian Bale or else Luci Christian.

Vic recently did a radio interview for a radio station in Houston (which is how I found this website, I'm Sparkles) and I have a recording if anyone would be interested.

Also, for those asking about Christian voice actors, my good friend Caitlin Glass is also a Christian VA.

o.O Wow. UC is 100% right, talking is one thing, but that is awesome and a half. Vic's definitely won my stamp of approval, here.

That's the link to the D2S link that I got sent a while back. It's a really good story and this story actually got me talking to Mr. Mignogna and he's helped me out a lot with religion and things. I owe him a lot.

I'll try and get that radio recording up on YSI or something again, soon, if I can.
