Awwwww baby Nirvash! <333 It's adorable.

Also liking Dominic's new look, here. x3 With the cloak thing and all.

Sad, though. Anemone isn't there. Would be a pity if she wasn't in it D:

How does a mecha have a baby?

You know what, I don't even want to know!

LOL

I think the nirvash baby is super cute, even though it doesn't look very mecha-ish.

Serious business answer is that it makes sense in the context of the world, especially considering what Nirvashes actually are.

I'm curious about this movie, but the plot does sound...weird. I'm not too sure how I feel about alternate universe stuff like that.

Baby Nirvash looks more like an anthropomorphic skyfish.

Psalms of Planets Eureka seveN: Pocketful of Rainbows

Postby blkmage » Thu Jul 02, 2009 7:33 pm

I can't believe no one cares about this. Anyway, no spoilers will be present as I gush about

Psalms of Planets Eureka seveN: Pocketful of Rainbows
交響詩篇エウレカセブン:ポケットが虹でいっぱい

So we all heard that this movie would be using the characters we knew and loved to tell a completely new story that has no connections to the Eureka Seven of the TV anime. I imagine that many of you were disappointed. More of you were probably uneasy about how such a thing could manage to be any good. I am here to allay those fears. Psalms of Planets Eureka seveN: Pocketful of Rainbows is fantastic.

You are going to be very shocked if you go into this with any expectation that the characters you remember will act anything like they did in the anime. Almost every character plays a different role, has a different personality, and will have a different backstory. After all, this is a completely different story in a completely different world.

But this movie is still undeniably Eureka Seven. It shares the same themes as the anime: love, hope, and grabbing your dreams and making it happen. Don't ask for it. Go out and win it on your own. Do that and you'll succeed. And of course, it's still got falling in the sky and alien robots surfing in the sky.

Basically, this is how to do a remake. It's a great reimagining of the concept that is definitely able to live up to the original. At the same time, it's a fantastic film that shines on its own merits. This is definitely a must-watch, especially if you loved the original.

I'm curious as to what they localized "Scab Coral" to in the original, because translating "Image" to "EIZO" seems stupid and pointless to me.

I saw the movie today at an anime con. We did miss the beginning and a bit in the middle, however. I don't know if was because of this, but I found the movie a bit confusing. I'll have to see it again to follow everything.

The fact that the characters were completely different from the series was a little difficult to get used to, and while the baby Nirvash is very cute, it's Pokemon-like vocabulary got a bit annoying. It doesn't say it's own name the whole time, but it's almost as bad.

I would also have liked to have more exposure or development of the "new" characters to shake off the shadow of those in the series, especially the Gekko State crew. Even though their back-story might explain the "harshness" of certain characters when compared to their series counterparts, I would have liked to get to know them better. I suppose they did the best they could in the limited time of a movie.

I think my favourite part was when Dominic was there. So my verdict is that it's a good re-write, but will definitely benefit from a second watch and doesn't compare to the series.
