I'm rewatching Pretear. I've been on a nostalgic magic girl kick lately.

Watched "Code-E" eps 7,8, and 9 last night. This is turning into a pretty decent little story.

Not long ago, I actually chased down and watched the last couple episodes of 'Tokyo Mew Mew' (aka Mew Mew Power), the series I never quite finished. I hate to admit it, but even though I was mostly just suffering through it back when my kids were on the magical girl kick, it was actually kind of fun to go back to this.

Once the formula starts annoying you, though, you might want to check out 'Dai Mahou Touge' (Great Magical Divide). It is the best parody of Magical Girl shows I've ever seen.

Ka-mi-CHUUUUUUUUU!!!!!

I so wish they had made that series longer. What they did with it is wonderful, and I suppose they would have risked screwing it up with a longer run, but this is a little gem that more people ought to see.

Just finished (like, five minutes ago) Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo. That was an AMAZING anime! It took a few episodes to get used to the weird art style, but by Episode 5 I barely even noticed it any more. The voice acting was superb, the subtitle translation was top-notch, and the adaptation was excellent. I mean, I can't see how even the most avid fan of the book could complain about the deviations from the original story; it stays much closer to the spirit of the book than some other adaptations I could name. Honestly, I can't find anything to complain about this anime except for a relationship that felt slightly unresolved, a small plot hole of how one minor character survives, and the singer who does the opening song :eyebrow:

Yep, this anime is definitely going on my favorites list. Yikes, I just realized it's taken the place of Wolf's Rain as vying for second place ^_^

Next up: Rurouni Kenshin!

I've watched the first five or so episodes of Rurouni Kenshin. Finally, I can see what all the fuss is about. I like Kenshin so far; he has an interesting voice for a main character (I like his little "Oro!" moments), an interesting manner of speaking, that is, and it doesn't hurt that he's an amazing fighter with a reverse-sided blade. This series seems to include my favorite kind of blending between the serious and the comical, and I don't mind the slightly older animation style as much as I thought I would. The main thing I don't like is how episodic it is. Is it like that all the way through, or does it get better later on?
