I love this one, but Miyazaki did some of my absolutely favorite anime of all time as well, 'My Neighbor Totoro', 'Castle in the Sky' and 'Whisper of the Heart'. Fair warning on the last item: it isn't fantasy like the others (although elements from it led to another Miyazaki fantasy, 'The Cat Returns.')

FInally watched 'Steamboy' last night. It has lots of stuff in it that really make an engineer's head hurt, but I enjoyed it anyway.

I saw episode one of the Record of Lodoss War OVA yesterday. It was a fun
tolkienish anime. My favorite scene came when Parn is fighting the dragon:
Parn:"Hey Deed,do you know what the dragon's vulnerable part is?"
Deedlit:"Do I look like a dragon expert to you?"
That was totally fun.
I guess Deedlit is my favorite character for now.I like the way that she's supposed to be this 160 year old Elf Spirte, but she acts and talks like she's Parn's age.

Gave the first volume of "Shakugan no Shana" a shot last night. Not sure if I like it or not. It has potential, but it also has potential to get real ugly. I'll probably give volume 2 a shot.

Been going through Mushishi slowly. When I can buy a legal English translation of this, it's going straight into my collection.

Witch Hunter Robin volume 6 (the final)
This is the first full series I've ever purchased and I'm glad I got it. I liked the ending fairly well and, though a couple times I wondered where things were heading theologically, I was pleased by the final explanations and by the very positive references to God in the final episode.
Now I've gotta buy me another series!

On Thursday I saw ep.#7 of the Original Dirty Pair OVA,'The Revenge of the
Muscle Lady'.
The Lovely Angels have to track down and destroy a lab that is producing an illicit
steroid, but the head of the cartel producing it turns out to be an ex-3WA candidate who still holds a grudge against Kei and Yuri.

Yesterday I saw Gundam Wing Endless Waltz(movie version) subbed.

I encountered "Magikano" on fabsub. I was thinking... "This is great!" They stayed 'under the line' on the fanservice meter (still a little too much, but tolerable) and seemed to actually be turning what started out a standard 'harem fantasy' type anime (like Love Hina, ad infinitum) into what could be a nice love story... then they thoroughly screwed it up in the last episode. Not the love story, which I turned out to be right about. The actual resolution is what stank. Argh!

Bleach episode 38. Yeah I know they are dubbed, but thats my preference. Its not that I don't like to listen to the original voice actors its just that I don't like to read subtitles. My eyes get tired after a while. So I like to understand what Im listening to without having to look at the bottom of the screen.

Kanon 2 ep 1. Similar yet a different feel to it. I have a feeling this'll work out as 24 eps rather than the short 13 ep version. I'll keep thinking "Chobits" though since Hideaki's voice is the new Yuuichi (unlike all the rest of the returning cast) and Shinbo's voice is there too!

Nodame Cantabile episode 21.

Must. Watch. Episode. Twenty. Two.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.
