This is something that I agree with and have felt the same way, since the block started.
Yeah if they could add Funi or ADV that would be awesome, but those are big companies who will have to be paid a bit to get the licensing. CN does or did have Funi animation but that was because this is a Cartoon network whose first priority is cartoons and anime falls somewhere in that category, its not much but still is something.
That is very true. FUNimation has brought Cartoon Network a few hits to their network. So Cartoon Network would be more then happy to pay more for titles and the same goes for Viz's. I would say that Cartoon Network wouldn't mind getting some titles from ADV as much as EVA didn't do well on Adult Swim. But ADV likes to keep their stuff on their Anime Network and if they did want to put an anime title on basic cable TV, I would say that they would go to CN first, before Sci Fi Channel.
Now Bandai is another story. Bandai really wants to put their anime on TV, but I think Cartoon Network is staying away from them, but I could be wrong. But most of Bandai titles haven't done well on CN and were sent to the grave yard time slot. The only Bandai title that has did okay was Ghost in the Shell: SAC.
Now that Manga Entertainment is dealing with Sci Fi Channel, they could give Bandai a push in the door of Sci Fi Channel.
After all, Manga Entertainment was distributor for Ghost in the Shell: SAC and SAC 2rd GIG and Bandai was the one to license those titles.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society was license by Manga Entertainment and Bandai was the distributor.
Manga Entertainment and Bandai work alot with each other on anime titles that they get.
