Longest series you've completed...

Postby Chiyocities » Sat Jan 14, 2006 11:13 pm

What was the longest anime series that you guys have watched in it's entierity? Meaning episode by episode, and from start to finish.

I myself have watched a lot of single-season anime, so Azumanga Daioh and Full Metal Panic (26 and 24 episodes, respectively) are the longest series that I've seen. It's going to take me a while to finish watching every episode of Inuyasha and Ranma 1\2, but I'm working on it.

It would be DBZ for me, with Rurouni Kenshin a close second.

I have finished neither series.

FMA, 51 episodes.

I considered it more an exception than a rule, as I am usually quite satisfied with 26 episodes as the magic number. But recently I'm on track to watch 49 of Kodocha's 102 and also on episode 24 of Eureka Seven's 50 or so episodes. So maybe the larger episode series are growing on me...? :eyebrow:
Hooray for zero-G.

I have finished watching Chrono Crusade - 24 episodes, and Kare Kano (His and Her circumstances) - 26 episodes.

I have seen many Ranma 1/2 episodes all over the place and years since high school, but don't believe I have finished it.

I'm pretty sure I've seen all of Dragon Ball on Toonami. I know for sure I saw all of SD Gundam. They kept canceling Rurouini Kenshin...

Likewise. The Ami-movie, SuperS TV Special, AND ep 67 which was never brought to North America (and can only be found in not so good quality^^) AND the whole live-action series, including the 2 last TV special eps (or were they OVAs? Meh whatever) :P Oh, AND the whole manga, including Sailor V, but not including the 2 volumes of Chibiusa shorts (cause they seem pretty rare to find, including scanlations of them) :/ :P

...coming into second place is Inuyasha with ALL 167 eps and 4 movies :/

The longest series I've seen in its entirety is Ranma 1/2 which comprises 161 TV episodes, 11 OVAs, and 3 movies.

I am currently working on Urusei Yatsura (196 TV, 6 OVA, and 6 Movies) and InuYash (167 TV, 3 movies and a special), but I haven't finshed them, yet.

The only series that are longer that I've seen are Sailor Moon (200 episodes, 3 movies, and 2 specials) and DBZ (291 TV, 2 Specials, 1 OVA, 13 movies). However, I haven't seen the final 34 episodes of Sailor Moon because they have not been released in the US and I can't say with certainty that I've seen every single episode of DBZ since I watched it on CN.

holy crud, some of these series are long. I've watched all of Kare Kano and I did read all of the Rurouni Kenshin manga, but I haven't watched the whole tv series yet. I have seen all of the OVAs.

I have seen Ranma 1/2 (all TV episodes/OAVs/movies). I have also watched all 3 movies and 199 of the 200 TV episodes of Sailor Moon (I have not seen the Ami special, nor episode 67).

Though nowhere near as long as the other two mentioned, I have also watched all 52 episodes of Fushigi Yugi, including the OAV episodes and the Eikoden episodes.

Sailor Moon. All 200 eps, 3 movies, the Ami's First Love theatrical short, and the SuperS TV specials. I own all of the (poorly translated) Sailor Moon manga released in the U.S., but have yet to read them.

Oh, and someone mentioned the "lost" episode 67 (the one with Chibi-usa's dinosaur) and that they've only seen it in poor quality. I actually found a guy who did a fantastic fansub of it for me. All I had to do was mail him the DVD-R, and then he recorded his fansub for me and mailed it back. He did really well with it, too. He was also one of the most "legit" fansubbers I've ever seen; he required that I make a copy of the bottom of my season 2 box from ADV to see the proof of purchase so that I was a legitimate owner of season 2 who only needed episode 67 to make the season complete. He was really trying to stay as close to legal as he could get doing a fansub, which I thought was admirable. He said that he only wanted to help "true" Sailor Moon fans complete their TV episode collection, since that was the only episode unavailable to North American fans.

Sorry for the long explanation, but I thought I'd mention that. Carry on with the longest series discussion to stay on topic!

Fushigi Yugi, at 52 episodes. And believe me, most of the last 26 eps were pretty painful.

Of course, there's length, and then there's effort. I wouldn't waste another second of my life on DBZ, Naruto, or the Kenshin series (other than the Samurai X DVDs). On the other hand, Serial Experiments: Lain is a mere 13 episodes, excruciating to get through, but one I consider well worth the effort.

I think that would have to be Hunter x Hunter- 70 episodes counting the first OAV. I haven't seen all of Rurouni Kenshin or Full Metal Alchemist yet, however.

Full Moon Wo Sagashite-- 52 Episodes.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.
