Inukami!

Postby LadyKokoro » Thu Jan 31, 2008 9:43 pm

Ok, I was researching Japanesey things on wikipedia and I came across a title called Inukami! It is not in english that I know of, but it looks interesting enough. I have no clue about the rating, no clue really about the actual story - though I have a basic idea of the plot (I think). I'd love to see some input on this one. I also hear that is is a light novel and possibly a manga, too. Would it be worth my investing in a translated novel or should I wait? Is it worth waiting for at all? You know, is it good?

*sends up Cap'n Nick signal* He'll probably be able to tell you more than I could but...

I've seen a few episodes of this and I actually enjoyed it a lot. It's riotously funny and the main character is voiced by my favorite J-pop singer, Yue Horie.

BUT, it's also well...more than a little perverted. Fanservice and sexual references abound. I only saw a few episodes, and it wasn't enough to taint my enjoyment, but others may be more sensitive.

I second the motion. It gets a little perverse, but more for comedic effect rather than fanservice. Especially comedic male nudity.

It's also one of the funnier shows to not make it to the US. I suspect this will be corrected eventually. It has been around long enough I would have thought it would be at least announced by now, but sometimes these things take time.

The good news is, the manga was recently licensed by Seven Seas, so it will be here eventually.

The title is original a rainobe series. It is considered a Seinen title, so as you can imagine, the humor will be a little raunchy. It is by no means as bad as a lot of other Seinen titles, though.

I have seen it before and it is VERY raunchy.

And the funny thing is it has more focus on the male perverts (oh you wont really understand till you see it), half naked muscle men and the main male character being naked. Also has its fair share of main male character getting beat up by the female main.

Watch the first episode, kinda gives you a feeling of what its going to be like, with a pervert ghost who runs around flashing people and shooting them with beams that remove clothing if the target is a male (his goal is to break up all couples). All the while the main character encourages him, since he is under the false assumption that it takes off female's cloths to.

Oh god! The "Manly men!" *shudder* That was one of the most disturbing scenes I have seen in an anime!

Anyway, I would continue the guarded recomendation of the series. It is hilarious, if you can stand the "Oh god! My eyes!" moments. I've only seen a few of them myself, and I've seen the first four or five episodes. The weird thing is, the female lead is an Inukami (Dog 'god'), yet she's terrified of dogs.
