I thought that Japan might do that. So its actually illegal to make your own manga?


I would consider watching the rest of the show, but that would mean Id have to order it online which is a huge hassle.

Japan's got a certain system that makes dojin legal.


Doujinshi is NOT legal in Japan; it's just that companies generally turn the other way and allow its proliferation to continue. Many still express disdain for doujinshi, but they generally know that doujinshi do more good than harm to their industry. There was a sole exception-- a Doraemon doujinshi became so popular that it sold thousands of copies, at which point Shogakukan actually sued its creator for damages.

So its actually illegal to make your own manga?

As long as it doesn't use officially licensed characters, it's OK. Only fan comics are illegal.
