Death Note

What can you tell me of this? I was trying to wade through all of the trivia of the series in wikipedia, but I need a basic summary. As long as it has been on air, we still do not have a review of it. Can somebody tell me about it?

Summary: Death Note follows a young Japanese male named Light Yagami. A genius, Light is bored with life, and has nothing to really work for. Likewise, a Death god, or Shinigami, named Ryuk is also bored with his... "un-life" in the "afterlife".

All Shinigami wield a book called a "Death Note". It's what they use to kill people in the real world. Using the book, they can determine the time, place, and even events leading up to a person's death.

Death Note begins when Ryuk the Shinigami drops his Death Note into the human world, where Light Yagami finds it, and becomes the owner of it.

Obsessed with using the Death Note for personal gain, and to become the "god" of a new world, Light Yagami slowly slips into oblivion as he engages in a life and death struggle for survival against his arch-nemesis, an investigative genius named "L", who is determined to stop Light at any cost.

Justice will prevail.

My thoughts: Death Note is by far one of the most intriguing manga/anime series out there... It's really intense, and the anime has a lot of artistic flare in it's direction. It's a real brain-bender...

That said, a lot of the series revolves around death, deceit, betrayal, and surprise, not to mention the extremely far-fetched view of the "other-world".

If you're okay with that kind of stuff, it's definitely a series you don't want to miss out on.
