He compared the collection, entitled Termination, to The Animatrix spin-off of the Matrix franchise, but with a "much more international flair." Termination will focus on Judgement Day, the pivotal day in Terminator franchise's multiple storylines when the Skynet defense system would launch nuclear weapons that destroy much of humanity.
No specific directors have been linked to this project yet, but Middleton expects it to be completed sometime in 2009. The Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles television series premieres in the United States on the Fox Network on January 13. The Matrix's studio, Warner Brothers, is commissioning Japan's Studio 4°C, Production I.G, and Madhouse to animate a similar Batman: Gotham Knight collection of shorts to coincide with the release of The Dark Knight movie this summer.
