Princess Tutu

Postby Mangafanatic » Thu Mar 08, 2007 10:58 pm

I cannot even begin to thank Adie enough for her review of the ballet-battle-tastic Princess Tutu!
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I also recomend this anime with warm. Review was really good. This anime gives alot more if you happen to be dancer. Its really funny how you can spot faimiliar training methods and scenes from great ballets.

I got to see the last four episodes of the series at Otakon this year.
I want to buy the DVDs but no distributor has the whole series it in stock.
I checked with ADV about if the series will come out in thin pack and they said there is a possibility but as to when that will be is the question.
I would hope it will be sometime around Christmas so I can buy it for my grandnieces and myself.

Yup. It's a favorite for me, too. A beautiful story, good strong characters, and a great job of animation. And, I just had a 'smack-the-forehead' moment because I should have thought of "Tutu" when Alexander was asking for a recommendation in the 'Recommendation' thread recently.

It touches on a peronal love of mine, as well. Not the dancer angle in my case, but the wonderful use of the classical repertoire (mostly, but not limited to, Ballet) in the soundtrack. Very well chosen and beautifully mixed into the story is all sorts of great old Ballet pieces.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Since I have not seen the whole series. Is there any scenes that should not be seen by anyone under 14 years old?
I would like to give it to some girls in my family under 14 for Christmas.
Any opinions?
