Chrono

IS it me, or does the word "Chrono" seem to appear often in anime and games? Unless there's a series I'm unaware of.

All I know is that "Chrono" is a prefix meaning "time". You're right about it being used in a lot of media, though:

reference.com (Wikipedia source) wrote: * Chrono is a character in the Kurt Vonnegut novel The Sirens of Titan
* Chrono can also relate to the control of Time and Space, sometimes even referred to as an alchemic element.
* The Chrono video game series, which includes the games Chrono Trigger, Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross.

o Crono is a character in the Chrono Trigger game.
* Chrono (or Chrno) is the title character from the manga and anime Chrono Crusade.
* Chrono Haraoun is a character from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, who also appeared in Triangle Heart: Lyrical Toy Box.

Why is that name used so often? I dunno. "'Cause it sounds cool," is my first guess. XD

Oh, ok. There's a Chrono game series. That makes sense now XD The frequently used name thread gave me the idea for this one, heh.

Heck yes there is a Chrono game series. XD And if you can get your hands on any of them, I highly suggest you play them. I mean, just take a look at my username. XD But yeah, I thought that thread might have been the inspiration for this one. XD

In Greek mythology, Chronos (Χρόνος in Greek) in pre-Socratic philosophical works is said to be the personification of time.

He was depicted in Greco-Roman mosaics as a man turning the Zodiac Wheel. Often the figure is named Aeon (Eternal Time), a common alternate name for the god. His name actually means "Time", and is alternatively spelled Khronos (transliteration of the Greek), Chronos, and Chronus (Latin version; not to be confused with Cronus).

As far as The Sirens of Titan, Chronos is not a titan, but is often confused with Kronus (also spelled Cronus), who was a Titan, but was worshipped as a harvest god and had nothing to do with time, as the Roman god of time is Saturn.

So there you go. Chronos means "time." Hence why it may be used so often.

"Radical Dreamer" is a text-based RPG and is the Japan-only sequel in the Chrono Trilogy.

We did receive the third title, "Chrono Cross" which is a love or hate game to Trigger fans.

Chrono Trigger was obviously about time... Chrono Crusade... not sure if my friend ever did buy the rest of the DVDs, but I guess I didn't get into it far enough to really see? (Although I know there is a pocket watch used alot in the show from what I remember, and also one in the title... I'm assuming it's specificness is near the end of the show^^) Also, with us Sailor Moon fans, is the whole thing in SM R with Pluto and how Chibi Usa calls about the god of time, Chronos. Too bad I remember in another thread that they mixed up the roles of time and death with Pluto and Saturn. Then again, Pluto has her "Dead Scream" attack, and Saturn is sort of like a "death and rebirth" character, so I guess it works out for both^^

On that I will give you this link: http://antares7.absoludicrous.net/pdf/saturnpluto.pdf

In Chrono Crusade there is some references to time as well...
Such as the already mentioned pocket watch and the lifespan shortening contract thing...
