And are there mods watching it? I want to have moderated chat to go to, because I have been spending time in Yahoo chats... I don't know how to get into it...

Same place it's always been, http://mud.floodgap.com/chat or telnet mud.floodgap.com 6785

Note that it's still officially "down for repairs" although it's been running with all services up for about 48 hours with the case off, and no problems with the power supply or disks so far. I'll put the case back on tonight and load it back into the rack if it still seems to be doing okay.

I do not believe there will be mods directly watching the chat. Chatting will probably be taking a risk. At the moment I would be breaking laws to use this terminal to chat, but I could do so over the summer.

Let's just say that the chat doesn't need mods to be monitored. The system takes no action of its own, but there are notifiers and there's lots of logging, which I keep an eye on.

Perhaps I can help.

The chat functions like a mud. If you type a line and press enter, your line will be said in the room for all to see. However, you can also type given key words. For example, typing "help" will take you to a help index, where you can type further topics for details.

Also, the chat is divided into several areas. When you first arrive, you are in the main hall. From here (as the options suggest) you may go to to patio or the rotunda by typing "go to the patio" and the like.

Generally, no one is online.

If you're using the Java chat, there's also a "say" box and a "do" box. Commands go in the "do" box and things to say go in the "say" box. I'm considering overhauling this, or just getting rid of the form altogether.

If you can use Telnet to access the chat, it's much more straightforward.
