We really need a rule against spamming, flaming, trolling, etc

There is a user here (I won't mention it but it should be obvious enough) whose posts almost always consist of one or more of the following:
1: Commercial, brag, or thread-bump spam
2: Insulting and inane remarks
3: Tirades or rants
4: Something guaranteed to start a controversy.
Could someone please talk to this user? And institute rules against more egregious conduct (i.e. calling people idiots in Japanese or in English, etc.) I'm not the only one who is finding his actions offensive to the general peace of wherever he posts and occasionally personally offensive to some members.
(PM me if you want to know who this is)

Perhaps people shouldn't PM you about that. The cleaner we keep this the better. I'd be in favor of some more specified rules, but if we keep entirely to the logistics of them, no one should get hurt. Not that rules really change how people act, but...

All right, but this situation is reaching critical mass what with his latest topic in General. Something needs to be done. Maybe not ban the user, but maybe someone needs to have a serious talk with him.

Yes, thank you. It's being worked upon.

Do you have any idea of what we can do yet? Seriously, we're beginning to have these spam problems again, and I think that a well-defined set of *where* the limits are would be helpful in dealing with it.

Hey DJ, your handle is so short that on the links page it get's mixed up with the line above it. Looks sorta like:
We really do need a rule against...djnoz.
It won't work now, but it was pretty funny...

New troll alert:
Please ban the user "Shinobi Nick" at once. This guy is trouble and I see no reason as to why he should even have a chance here with that profile link.

He was banned AND his posts were deleted? What did he do?

He was posting way out of line, mostly talking about homosexuality in a pretty vulgar way and he had posted an objectionable link, and had a rather objectionable profile as well, not to mention his posts were pretty spammish and uncalled for. Most of you regulars missed this, since it was at about 4 AM. ^^;; I'm "Night Owl Moderator" for a reason I guess
J/k.

I could say the same about my Hamtaro thread. I figured out, though, that if you click on "Ignore this user" on any one of the posts that he made around the boards, none of them will be visible to you. And later, if you'd like to see something he posted somewhere, you can optionally click on "View this post" and it'll open up in a new window. Handy stuff. ^_^
