i was wondering if there could be a buzz in the chat... like in Yahoo IM so you could get people's attention

Well, we already have the bip option that lets users hear when people have posted, not to mention users can just send each other PMs to get their attention, so I think a buzz might be redundant. I'm also not a fan of YIM's buzzing system, and I think it could easily be misused in the chat. I also don't know how much work it would take for Mith to implement that as an option.

well what if people dn't hav speakers to use the bip system the buzz doesn't make noise but it still raddles the window to get peple's attention

now you're getting into animation, which would probably require a full rebuild of the chat.

And what is the deal behind this adamant request for people's full attention in the Chat at the ring of a bell?

Even if the sound is off it still gets annoying when others use it for their personal enjoyment. RD is right, that's what Bip is for. I use it, but sometimes I'm doing other things, so I don't reply at a drop of a dime. When the screen raddles (as you put it) and interrupts whatever you may be doing. Some people may use that as a weapon rather for what it's really for. I had an annoying with the buzzing on YIM. I kept telling someone to cut it out, but they continues all because they were bored o.O I don't think a buzz system would be very good idea for chat o.o

People talk in the Chat. If you want their attention, talk.

Pshh, yeah, AFTER I told them to stop 10 million times o.O I say if they were that bored, why not open up an IM window of someone who wasn't on and buzz all they want and they wouldn't be there to put up with it.

Yeah, I supposed I should be. Even tho it took so many times asking them to stop it. They should be thankful that I've been so patient with them. Even tho they say I haven't been u_u
