Just so that you guys know, we're moving our primary DNS server IP address. You may experience some intermittant downtime over the next 48-72 hours. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Is there a layman's technical explaination? *Blinks*

How's this:

Due to the large number of computers that have to all work together on the internet, the "change of address" form we filed for our server may take a while to circulate.

Is that any better?

Sure. Why the address change? :P

CAA has filled up my internet pipe, so I had to buy another one. I've moved everything else off this line so it can be dedicated to just CAA traffic.

Ooooh that's great! ^_^ (That the site is doing so well, not that it filled your internet pipeline. XD )

Aahh, ok, that makes more sense. I kept wondering what was going on, but I'm glad to have the IP, since I was stranded without CAA for about a day. Oh, the horror!

yea, the domain name doesn't work for me at all, i got on via the IP from when we had to use it a while ago:

http://66.92.1.159/

and some of the functions don't seem to work, like view new posts etc.

am guessing its still because of the DNS move. will it be the same DNS when its up & running again?

Yeah... There seems to be a propigation issue on the internet. I'm looking into it right now. This makes no sense to me, though, honestly.

Update: OK. I think I've got it figured out now. We should be working fine within a few hours (well, up to 24 hours).

:D

Looks like we're propigating, so I *think* we'll be OK by tomorrow sometime. Keep trying the real address and let me know if you can get through.

Thanks!

I tried the real address a few minutes ago, and all I got was the "problem loading page/cannot connect to server" screen. :(

Okay, ~11pm Pacific time, I was unable to successfully resove the domain name. The dnsstuff tool gave me a working ip, though, and I've thrown it in my hosts file for now.

Interestingly enough, my work connection was able to resolve it just fine today.

3:57AM CDT, no go. However, I got the "Address Not Found" page quicker than usual, if that means anything.

At 0810 CDT I was able to connect, and I was unable to connect through the regular route about 5 minutes ago. It does appear to be working (here, at least).

04:10 Central African Time. Domain doesn't work, though I get strange pictures of chocoate brownies. That's not right, I suppose.

PS: the brownie-thing's a joke, off course. ;) I just thought this thread needed some chocolate.

Instead of telling you that it doesn't work, I'd just like to thank you for having the alternate address. It is good to be able to communicate with some of the people I don't regularly connect with through other channels. We know you're working on a solution and we can be patient until then.

I want to echo what UC said. Sorry I didn't mention that in my previous post. I was very glad to find that we could still use the backup IP. I have a lot of friends on the Bump Thread and life gets boring without them. XD
