CAA Radio coming soon! –Hosts needed!
PostPosted: Mon Mar 13, 2006 9:18 pm
by Link Antilles
I’m proud to announce that CAA will have it’s own community driven radio show. This radio show will be divided into two parts: One that all about Anime and Manga; the other will focus on Video Games. All the tools necessary to start this have been gathered, however we are missing a crucial element: You.
Yes, we need hosts. We need people who know their stuff and can talk the talk for either the Anime or Video Game show. So, are you up for it?
Just like in the popular Part II of the: “Show your accent threadâ€

Linky, I love you (in a purely agape way).
Will this be a streaming radio or a podcast? WMV radios dont really work on my computer...

Speaking on my own (i.e., this may not be what Link has in mind, and if so he can correct me) We may be doing some "market research", but most likely this will be a podcast. There will be "live" moments--where the hosts respond to members online at the recording--but it will probably be packaged and put up for downloading.

Ooh most awsome Miss Ashley. I've already sent in my recording (maybe i'm a little bit "too" eager for this >_>).

It is very likely that these will be released as podcasts and not a streams - though we may release them as bittorrent instead (in order to distribute the bandwidth across many boxen).

The bittorrent idea is pretty good. I'm pretty sure I can set mine up so it downloads everytime it updates.

So, how does one listen to this... bittorrent?
And what exactly is a podCast? Sorry, I'm not familiar with these... erm... things.

A podcast is like downloading your favorite radio stations morning talk show (KCRW =D) every time they update.
Downloadable radio is the best way to put it, except you can easily listen to it on your iPod (or other mp3 player/computer)

Hmmm... I have skype and broadband most of the time...
I may put in for a spot or at least a regular position...
PS have you considered doing a show like TWIT (This Week in tech) they have a roundtable of commentators, some of who rotate in and out of the show depending on availiability and topics. This could allow more format flexibility and a little smaller time commitment for some people, or allow for technical issues (unavailiability, vacations, storms, tests etc.)

Wish I could help out with this. Sadly, this poor preacher is still on dial up. But I look forward to the possibility of hearing some of this.

Hee, I'm looking forward to this. I need to try out soon. I still have dial-up at my house, but lucky me, DSL recently came down our road. Here's hoping my Dad gets it soon.

Hmm, I may be interested, if nothing else it'd keep my radio voice in use.

^_^ Wow, this sounds like fun! I don't have the time to do full time hosting (although that sounds awesome. XD Maybe during the summer?), but if you guys ever need a guest on the anime program, I'm always willing! ^_~

I like this idea, and I would be interested in becoming a host. But...we have to write our own segments, right? Hmm...that would be tough for me. :\

I wanna do this! T_T But it figures that this morning of all mornings my broad band died on me!
:O Question though, are there going to be any particular segments within the two segments? Such as "Fetured anime of the week" or "Funny anime poem of the month" or anything like that? Or are there no specifics that you can reveal at the moment?
oh oh! What about "Host Karaoke Night"?

The bittorrent network allows people to "group download." For example, we could start the bittorrent here on CAA's server, and two people could download it. When a third person begins their download, they would download from ALL THREE places at once, likely increasing their overall download speed AND shifting part of the burdon from the CAA backbone.
Podcast is just a buzword that means, "Downloadable media" to separate it from "streaming media." It's what we had before streaming media become a buzzword.
