Library Fees

Every bookie person has had a run in with one, though the price and reason are always different. My personal highest is 40 dollars for a reason I cant remember. Just last week i paid a twenty dollar fine for losing (i.e. STOLEN from the dropbox) Eldest. Add to this I volenteer at the citys library and you get pretty awkward moments.

So how bout it CAA? Whats your personal highest fee that you may or may of have paid off yet?

From what I recall, I don't think I've ever cleared 12$. Although I've had so many smaller 5 to 8 dollar fees over the years that the library has probably been able to build a new building using the funds. It's those small fees that are the evil ones, you'd do well to watch 'em.

My worst library incident was the time that I placed a hold on Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix. I was approximately 900th out of over a thousand holds and when the book finally came in several months later, it happened to come in right when I was away on vacation for two weeks. And to add insult to injury, they fined me for failing to pick up my hold. Thankfully, I happened to get a really nice librarian and she not only waived the fee, she also moved me back up to first place in the holds list

I've never had to actually pay but I used to get posted the notices that I would have to pay (sometimes upto $60) but I found the book(s) and would return them. I have to say for a bookworm I'm pretty lucky in that respect.

Wow, the highest I've ever had to pay for late books is around $2.00. Which reminds me, I have a book to return.

I usually borrow on someone else's card, so that can hurt that person very much: 15 books out for 5 extra days at ten cents each=7.50.
I think once the fees were about $12.00.

SInce i don't live near the library it's jsut kinda hard to get over there when you want to. Plus I like checking out multiple books at once.

I don't know how much I've added on in my whole lifetime, but I know it's more than $50.00. I had to pay for a book one time, but at present, my fees are now at $18.00!

$1.80. We all share my mom's card. There was like 12 books on it, but only a few were late.

Not much... I'm rather paranoid about these things. It goes really well with my swiss cheese memory.
Probably adds up to about $10 altogether.

I generally read pretty fast, so the only times I have late books are when someone else borrows them or when I forget to return them. No fine has ever gone over 50 cents, but then again my library has lenient late fees.

Ahem, I would like to announce $23 in fines at the college library and an additional $11 at the public library. It has been a baaaad last few weeks and I've been getting out way too many books for research papers, anatomy and design projects. Ouch.

I have probably spent at least a $100.00 in library fines collectively over the last three years, my mom ( I do not know why) let me get my own library card and the fine for movies is 1.00 a day per movie that's what racked them up so much over the last 3 years but I mostly pay them off with my own money sometimes my mom or dad lend me money

My largest fine that I recall was about twenty dollars at the campus library.

$1.20. I'm usually pretty good at returning books to the library.

I am a fugitive from at least 3 libraries, owing as much as $25 for late books. I went in the library near my parents' house a while ago (they were holding a book sale) and the librarian looked up at the desk, smiled and said "You still owe money."
I just said "Yeah, nice to see you too." Haven't been in there since.

Largest Fine=$14.00

*checks library card* I owe $4.00 right now, but I'm not planning on paying it anytime soon.

I've managed to dodge any larger fines. Usually, it's the sheer volume of books I check out that gets me. Our library charges 0.25 a day per book. *shudders*

That reminds me, I have seven or so books due back this Wednesday. Does anybody else get weird looks when they walk through the library because of how many books they are checking out?

Back when I was little I think I lost some paperback book about a turtle, and it racked up about 15 bucks, more than the book was probably worth...

I noticed that my copy of Horse and His Boy had a library stamp on it... Checked out several years before I was born from the library in the town I grew up in... I sure hope my parents bought it used from the library, I don't want THAT sort of fee coming back to haunt us after 25+ years... It also makes no sense, since it was a box set and none of the other books are library check-outs... Just that one... Of course, Last Battle is also newer than the rest... However that works... I think there are the members of 3 or 4 sets in that set... And I may have to replace Prince Caspian, as well... Still, I just don't want to see that library fee come back and bite us...
