Huzzah! Someone else who knows about Louis Lamour! :thumb:
His books are awesome! I especially liked Sackett's Land, with some of the Chick Bowdrie (sp?) stories following close behind.

The dramatized cassettes are incredible as well! (As far as dramatized recordings go, they're about as good as it gets!)

So do you have any favorite stories or books?

Louis Lamour, I've only read a few of his books but they were GREAT!
My sister has probably read everyone of his books.
She likes to read quiet a bit, you might say.

My maternal grandpa used to read Louis L'Amour and other Western writers all the time when he came in from working out in the field. He loved his Louis L'Amour and had a whole stack of 'em when he died back in '77.

btw:Most people don't know but L'Amour also wrote mysteries he had an anthology
called The Hills Of Homicide.

My dad has made it his goal to collect and read every Louis L'Amour story out there. He's a big fan of old weterns, so we've got plenty of he and Zane Grey floating around our bookcases. I'm about twenty pages in on one called 'Reilly's Luck'. ^_^

I just finished Sackett's Land again. A good book, and come to think of it... I have one of the lines from it in my sig.
It's kind of hard to describe, so I'll post the summary the book gave.

Son of a feared fighting man. Barnabas Sackett inherited his father's fiery temper, sense of justice and warrior skills. Declared an outlaw in his native England, Barnabas sets his daring sights on the opportunities of the New World. The ruthless piracy of the open seas and the unknown savage American wilderness lay before him. And so did the thrill of discovery and the chance to establish a bold new future if he survived.

I'd also recommend The Warriors Path. It's about a pioneer (from the Sackett family) who hears about some girls from a village being kidnapped, and his search to rescue them and capture their kidnappers. A really cool book! :thumb:

*is shocked to see this thread with people posting!* XD

I've read some of Louis L'Amour's books...good stuff. Right now I have a book of his quotations sitting on my shelf, but it belongs to my grandma...>.> I've read Jubal Sackett, The Lonesome Gods, and Last of the Breed...all good reads, if you ask me. :) Particularly the latter two. Although the last isn't a western...XD
