I heard lots of negative things about my favorite author, anne rice.
that it draws inspiration from the devil and that inspires christians to drop from our religion and join satanism (or other pagan groups), IT'S NOT TRUE! I've been reading her books for years now and my faith hasn't been corrupted in anyway. her books inspires me to write, to think, and to imagine. in short, she inspires me. please I wan't to here the opinions of my christian brethrens about anne rice. :)

I don't see anything wrong with reading her books. I read the first four Vampire Chronicles several years ago, but I haven't read any of her work since then.

The only way I could see it affected you is if you started drinking blood, but I don't think there's much chance of that (aside from the weirdos who do :eyeroll: ).

It's funny, I get on people's cases for spreading miss-information about Harry Potter, yet I was thinking that all I've ever heard of her where really bad things (along the same lines as the Potter retoric that goes around).

How would you classify her, Horror, Action, Fantasy? I'm not really into horror for the most part, so I might not be interested in reading, but then again who knows.

I'd really say that they're more fantasy than horror, since the books aren't really meant to be especially scary. I'm not really struck with her work myself, except for "The Vampire Lestat", which seemed pretty good.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

she's more into fantasy than horror. in her stories she informs the readers that vampires are like people too, that there not monsters who kill for no apparent reason.

I myself am currently reading Anne Rice books (Love them). I think that she is a great author (one of my favorites along with Lois Lowry, Robert Jordan, Stephen King, and Holly Black), and i agree with you. Her books do get you to think more about things (in my opinion). And I hear quite abit of negative things about her books as well. Just listen to what you think is Right.

It'd be all like:
"Hey! You want to come over tonight?"
and they'd be all like:
"Sure! Where do you live?"
And we'd be all like:
"You know that Bio-dome out alittle west in the woods?"
And they'd be all like:
"...:shady: Yeah...?"
We'd say:
"There!"
Then they would slowly back away while we are all like:

I work at a book store and I hear the good and the bad about Anne Rice. I'm not too much of an Anne Rice fan. Actually I only like The Mummy. Her vamp books I don't like at all, they are so wimpy. (also too much eroticism) I guess thats how to explain it. Hope i didn't offend any Anne Rice fans. Just like stronger vampires thats all.
