After 1,000+ posts, I figure it's about time...

I'm not usually a follower, but I've seen a couple people now making posts like this in honor of their 100th posts... Well I've passed 1,000 now, and I don't think I ever did one of these! ... Most likely because I'm quite bad at doing them. ... Probably because I don't know what people would possibly want to know about me.

So... ask me questions! I will do my best to answer them, although I will not answer anything profoundly personal for the entire cyber-world to see.

Some initial factoids about me:

  • I like some anime, but I'm not a rabid fan. *glances at avatar* Perhaps "rabid" is a bad choice of words....
  • My favorite anime (currently) are: My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, pretty much anything else by Miyazake, Cowboy Bebop, Ranma 1/2, Fushigi Yuugi, Serial Experiments Lain, Trigun, Kenshin (though I've only seen a little bit of it), and,.. um... can't think of any more.
  • I am studying to be a starving artist. I love sculpture, and drawing is cool too although that doesn't come as easily to me. You can see my gallery (which is currently very sparse and hopefully will soon be updated) at Elfwood.
  • I love wolves, if you couldn't tell. I also love all things of nature. Well... except maybe things like roaches and gnats. I can't say that I love those. But stick me in the woods, or on a cliff overlooking the ocean, or in a field of wildflowers, and I'm happy.
  • I love my God. The Great Artist, Maker of Heaven and Earth, Prince of Peace, King of Kings, Lord of lords, and lover of my soul. He is All.
  • I love my husband, OldPhilosopher. He's a wonderful gift from God.
  • I sing on the worship team at my church, and OldPhil sings and plays guitar.
  • I don't wear makeup, fashion labels (on purpose), or hair spray. I don't give one hoot about the latest fads. In fact, I hardly ever buy clothes, my shoes are falling apart, and I hate shopping. (Notice I used the word "hate....")
  • I don't tend to be ultra-feminine (if you couldn't tell by the above statement). I also don't make friends with other women very easily, for this reason. My girl-friends tend not to be ultra-feminine either. I try to avoid cattiness whenever possible. ... And I don't do the giggly thing. Not very well, anyway.
  • I like to read, mostly fantasy novels but some other things as well. My favorite author is probably Stephen Lawhead (but I could just be saying that because I'm reading his books right now). I'm also a big fan of Madeleine L'Engle and C.S. Lewis... and of course, Tolkien, although he tends to be a bit long-winded for my taste. *ducks and runs from the rabid Tolkien fans*
  • I've done a little writing of my own in the past, although it's been quite a while since I've written any poems or stories.... If you are for some reason interested, you may find my writings at my home page.
  • I'm a natural-born editor. I'll usually find a typo if it's there. (I think I found a typo in the dictionary once!) It's a curse, I tell you, a curse! (... and now you're all looking for typos in this, I just know it!) ;)
  • I majored in Theology in college (the first time around...). This was not to become a pastor or missionary or anything like that; it was more for personal growth. I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up, (at the time I wasn't ready to be an artist, which is what I really wanted), and I figured that most people don't end up doing something in the field they majored in anyway. Employers often just want to know that you completed college. So, Theology it was, and I don't regret it... usually. Ironically enough, I now know a heck of a lot less (about God, as well as many other things) than I did before I went to college... which, as it happens, is fine with me. I'm also a lot less arrogant than I used to be.
  • I haven't eaten dinner yet and I'm starting to get hungry. So I'll leave you fine people to read this and barrage me with any questions you might have. Silly or serious, it's all good.

Hey Wolf. Good to learn a little more about you. I guess what stood out the most for me is that you were a Theology major, and you say that after that you knew less. That's what I don't understand. Care to explain that a little more?
(I won't ask about the joys and woes of living with OP. :))

> I don't wear makeup

Okay, it's official now. You are one of the coolest women I've ever met (in a relative way of speaking, since we actually never have met... but I digress). I can't stand make up. I think women look fine just the way God made them.

Thanks, viking! I think so too, in general... although I don't think it's *wrong* to wear makeup. I just hate doing so, personally. I think I've worn makeup maybe twice in my life.

Saint, I will try to explain what I meant... although I don't want this to turn into any kind of theology discussion, so (anyone in general) please PM me with any specific theological questions. Anyway, before I went to college, I had some very strong beliefs about certain things (which I won't mention here, to avoid an argument). I was quite vocal and adamant about those beliefs, too. I don't mean core Christian beliefs, such as salvation through Christ. I'm referring to beliefs that I didn't even realize were held differently in different Christian circles. So when I took some theology classes and learned some things that contradicted my previously-held fringe beliefs, I was a little shell-shocked. I realized that my little worldview was so limited... and that there are so many other valid viewpoints out there, even within Christianity.

One thing is certain: God Is. Almost everything else is speculation.

That's what I meant. :)

Hmmm... I dunno! I've never been to Texas, so I know almost nothing about that great nation. :)

Kokhiri Sojourn wrote:What subjects do you typically sculpt? I'll add my "you're real cool" statement with the others.

Thanks! I seem to have a theme going with my sculptures, and that is... fantasy creatures! My very first sculpture was a dragon head, and I'm currently working on a dragon snail. (Yes, it's weird.) :) I have also made a mouse faery (see pictures). I've done various other things as well, but usually I do fantasy creatures.

Wow, you do have a gift. It looks like brilliant work, but again I'm no expert. I only wish I was artistic in the field of art...

Any projects in the works?

The one in the works right now is the dragon snail. I'll post a pic of it when it's done, which should be sometime next week (I hope). ^_^

Wow, I guess I haven't been watching this thread at all! I missed a few. Catching up now...

Kura Ookami wrote:I'm gravedigging, but i thought i should ask you some questions about yourself. Please dont get oldphil to ban me for this okay?

I'm currently in the middle of Wolf's Rain, and I'm really liking it. I can only watch it when I get together with The Silence, though, since it's hers, so I'm having withdrawals. Cowboy Bebop is still one of my faves, and anything Miyazaki is (almost) always awesome.

Wow. Your husband is a mod here. Okay ill ask the same question ive asked TNC and kaji. What anime couple do you and oldphil resemble the most?

I have no idea. Probably none of them.

On second thought... OldPhil just brought up a good point. At the moment, we most resemble the couple from My Neighbor Totoro, because he works at a college, and I'm sick. :P

Why do you like wolves?

They are beautiful, mysterious, elusive, and loyal to their own. At times they are playful and loving, and at times they are fierce Some people think they are nothing but evil predators, but in fact they are an essential part of the created order.

What anime would you like to be transported to if you could be and why?

Probably Totoro. It's just beautiful, and it makes me happy every time I watch it.

What is the strongest thing on earth?

Love. Love conqers all.

Have i made any typos in this post?

Yes. :)

What is your favorate emoticon?

That would be the one most appropriate for a wolf! :lick:

What are your favorate anime quotes?

I don't know and I have no opinion.

oldphilosopher wrote:What kind of superpowers do you have?

I currently have the dubious superpower of being able to make strange noises with my nose, without really even trying.

I can also make the sun go down, if I concentrate long enough.

Do you use them for good, or for awesome?

For awesome, of course.

What is your favorite song in the world?

Is that a loaded question? ]How many typos are in this phrase:

"How many boards could the Mongols hoard if the Mongol hoards got bored?" [/quote]

Only one. It would be the Mongol hordes. :)

I like most genres, except for rap, hip-hop, and country.

I guess my faves are alternative, rock, and Celtic. Favorite bands include Jars of Clay and Iona. I don't listen to the radio much these days. Commercials bother me.

Okay, I've got some questions for you. Some are hard while others don't make much sense.

Do you like people with mohawks?

Have you ever eaten fried rattlesnake?

Do you like to eat?

Have you ever been shot?

Do you have on shoes right now?

IF you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Would you ever get the Scottish flag tattooed on your back? Or anything else?

Do you ever wear thongs? The sandal kind.

Have you been to Texas yet?

I've never met one, but I suppose it would depend greatly on the individual.

Have you ever eaten fried rattlesnake?

No. But I have eaten frogs' legs. They're quite tasty... sorry, Kermit.

Do you like to eat?

Yes.

Have you ever been shot?

Only with a camera.

Do you have on shoes right now?

Do sheepskin slippers count? :)

IF you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

New Zealand, Scotland, Ireland.... for their stunning landscapes and interesting cultures.

Would you ever get the Scottish flag tattooed on your back? Or anything else?

No. Two words: OUCH and PERMANENT.

Do you ever wear thongs? The sandal kind.

Yes. And I like to paint my toenails blue for the occasion. :D

Have you been to Texas yet?

Alas, no... I have not yet visited that great nation. I have to get my passport updated before I can leave the country...

That's probably the funniest answer ever to that question.

And speaking of St. Patrick's Day, I took part in an Irish band this year at seminary, and we played for our St. Paddy's day event. We were pretty decent too. We may do it again next year. Do you have any favorite Irish songs?

I've got a few more...hehehe

Do you work real hard at a chocolate factory?

Do you enjoy the dulcet sounds of bagpipes?

Have you ever been struck by lightniing? Would you ever want to be?

Do you think I'm strange?

Have you ever been chased down by a hippo with bad breath?

Do you like sunsets?

If you or your best friend had to die and you had to choose which one it would be, which of you would die and why?

And finally, have you ever stolen a toothbrush from Target?
