Got Explosions?

Well, after 100 posts I figured it was time for a FAQ.

Age: 23 (24 in April)
Gender: male
Status: Single, not looking
Birthday: April 10th, 1980
Ethnicity: White as a jaybird. I do have enough Native American in me though to get a hug from any of the Cherokee nation. They call me brother. It's spiffy.
Beliefs: Definitely Christian. Most definitely. Denomination? No thanks :p
Political Affiliation: Nonexistant. My voting records lean towards the democrats, but my values put me heavily in the conservatives. Yet I can't stand either, and don't believe in political parties.
Languages: English, Spanish, French (not fluent in the latter two, but I understand it spoken on a basic level), currently learning Japanese for missions work.
Location: *an explosion is seen in the distance* Well... you know it's not there :p Seriously, I live in Tupelo, MS... and I really can't stand it. :\
Music: Too much to mention, but I guarantee it's all Christian. I'm on a strict "no secular" diet. I have an almost unhealthy infatuation for Rebecca St James though...
Favorite anime: Tie between Stellvia of the Universe and Hajime no Ippo
Favorite manga: Three syllables: Kodocha
Favorite video game: Ikaruga. It's all you need. If you have a Game Cube, go buy it now and play it every day for the rest of your life.
Favorite Movies: Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Last Samurai, almost anything by Akira Kurosawa
Food: I really love anything tempura. Seriously. Anything. Apples, carrots, rocks, whatever... fry it tempura style and I'll eat it.
Cooking Styles: Japanese, Thai, Chinese
Interests/Hobbies: Video games, Anime, Reading (usually books on practical living, I get enough fiction from anime and video games), Writing, Foreign Languages, Boxing, Blowing stuff up
Career Goals: Called to Japanese ministry. Someday I may actually set foot in the pro boxing ring, but I dunno yet.
Current Profession: Semi-Pro Game Reviewer (meaning I am Pro but I don't get paid for it. I write for Al Menconi Ministries and Christian Spotlight's Guide 2 Games), Freelance Technical Consultant, and I'm also helping to open the largest cyber cafe in North Mississippi. It's gonna rawk.
Favorite Animal: Fox. I have no idea why.
Favorite Color: Green
Random Fact: I like to blow stuff up.

If there's anything else people want to know, just ask. I think I covered the basics though :p

Thanks for letting us get to know you better. :)

I only have one question: what is this Ikaruga you speak of, and what makes it so great? I don't own a Game Cube (I'm a Sony man), but I am curious.

Actually I just checked, I'm 1/16th Cherokee. I was way off.

cbwing0 wrote:I only have one question: what is this Ikaruga you speak of, and what makes it so great? I don't own a Game Cube (I'm a Sony man), but I am curious.

Ikaruga is the sequel to one of the greatest shooters of all time, Radiant Silvergun. RS was developed by Treasure (of Gunstar Heroes fame) and released on the Saturn in Japan only. It can be found for about $170 nowadays, and I assure you it's worth every penny. When the time came to release a follow-up, they developed what was nicknamed "Project RS2" which became Ikaruga. It was originally released on the Dreamcast, and was so good that it even got the attention of Penny Arcade. A small cult gathering formed around the game, and Atari (thank you thank you thank you!!!) decided to bring the game over to the GameCube. It has since become a staple in my gaming collection. If I find a GameCube owner that hasn't played it, I make every attempt to educate them (often with a large hammer) on the greatness of the game. You can find it at most places for about $30, and here's a review for more information. Ask anyone from G2G, and they'll tell you that I was literally foaming at the mouth about this game both a few months before and after this game was released.

Hmm. How easy is this title to find? I'm a Dreamcast nut and hacker, myself.

Rock on man, I love the DC myself. You can usually find an import copy at Ebay

Imports are no problem, since I have a region-free hack disc. I'll check it out and see if I can scare up a copy. :thumb:

What's a prime time for blowing things up? I'm 1/16 Cherokee myself. I'm gonna have to look for that DC game and that region-free hack disk.

Any time. ^_^

Well, obviously after I get married there would be certain times that blowing things up would be in appropriate but I'm not going there. :red:

Suddenly I have the urge to buy a Domo-Kun and a Sakabatou. I have no idea why.

Someone else who like green! Blueraven is always telling me green is evil. Is not. LOTR is a great movie series. (11 Oscars for ROTK! Whee!) I hope you can get into the Japanese ministry. That'd be cool. ^_^ I have a PS2. .hack/infection has fed my gaming needs for almost a month now. (Yes, I just bought it, so I just started playing it. Been hearing about it for how knows how long, so, yah. ^_^)

Wow, I'm finally reading your little bio. Hi Mr. Duckie. You've helped me out so much with various Tupelo questions and I want to thank you again. ^_^

There's a lot of 1/16 or other Native Americans here. I'm actually 1/8 Navajo, and my dad still gets check from the government because of that. Haha, I think they spend a 37 cent stamp to mail my dad a check for 12 cents. Our tax dollars at work. LOL

So if I need to organize a pow wow, I definitely know I can come here.

Anywho, just in case anyone needs it, feel free to address me without the "da rabid" part. Just Duckie will do just fine. It's what everyone calls me in real life, and I often catch myself addressing myself as "The Duck".

I can't believe that I didn't say hello to the Duck. Hale be thou, and glad to have you here.

That was certainly unexpected, but thank you. ^_^

And in case anyone was wondering about my "absence", I took a week-long vacation from the internet. But during most of that the servers here were down for the move so it's not like anyone noticed. :p

I guess I will have to call you Duckie from now on. My problem comes from my tendency to say "Da Rubbah Duckie" instead of "Da Rabid Duckie" when I see your username....

That statement was not meant to make fun of you. It is just a statement on the strong influences of watching Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street during my childhood have on me... to this day. Freaky, really.....

Yo Duckie, I'm interested in minstry in Japan too. I went to a seminar where a minister who preached there said that as long as you speak English well, you can make it...apparently a lot of Japanese people go to church to learn English, but not to hear the Word.

Well, after nearly a year of being absent (and with Shooby's permission :thumb:) I figured it's a good time to bump this up... especially since I haven't met 80% of you ^^;

UPDATED BIO!!

Age: 25 (26 in April)

Location: *an explosion is seen in the distance* Well... you know it's not there :p Seriously, I live in Oxford, MS... and I really can't stand it. It's actually so bad, I miss Tupelo sometimes.... yeah, that bad.
Music: Too much to mention, but I guarantee that except for the anime themes it's all Christian. I'm on a strict "no secular" diet. I have an almost unhealthy infatuation for Rebecca St James and BarlowGirl though... the fact that I actually know the ladies Barlow doesn't help either...
Favorite anime: Tie between Stellvia of the Universe and Hajime no Ippo. Some things just don't change.
Favorite manga: Three syllables: Kodocha, next would be Cromartie High though that's four syllables.
Favorite video game: Ikaruga. It's all you need. If you have a Game Cube, go buy it now and play it every day for the rest of your life.
Favorite Movies: Tokyo Godfathers, The Last Samurai, almost anything by Akira Kurosawa or Hayao Miyazaki.

Cooking Styles: Japanese, Thai, Chinese
Interests/Hobbies: Gypsy (muahaha!!), Video games, Anime/Manga, Reading (usually books on practical living, I get enough fiction from anime and video games), Writing, Foreign Languages, Hockey, Boxing (actually doing it, not just watching it), Blowing stuff up
Career Goals: To become an uber prosecutor, maybe a DA or a judge... heck... I could even do President. Yeah...
Current Profession: Still a Semi-Pro Game Reviewer (meaning I am Pro but I don't get paid for it. I write for Al Menconi Ministries and Christian Spotlight's Guide 2 Games), currently a Sophomore at Ole Miss University and working towards a degree in criminal justice with a focus in Pre-law
Favorite Animal: Fox. I have no idea why. Foxes eat ducks. *shudders*
Favorite Color: Green
Random Fact: I like to blow stuff up. I also have a bit (bit? Pssh...) of a superiority complex... but that's just because I really am that awesome.

If there's anything else people want to know, just ask. I think I once again covered the basics though :p

I came down with a rather interesting case of life... after opening the lan-cafe that I mentioned, I left my hometown of Tupelo to pursue a career in management at EB Games. I moved to Oxford, where I've been for a year, and having recently lost my job I'm now back in school. In between all that, I was really busy playing video games, watching anime, being an admin at a hopefully-well-known video game forum, and generally doing nothing. And believe me, doing nothing is a rather time consuming process...

Hello! I know that this is waaay late, but I've never seen it before, and you joined before I did. I like to set things on fire, but blowing up things scares me. How this is relevant to anything, I'll leave that up to you to figure out.
