Q&A for Murb
PostPosted: Sun Nov 07, 2010 10:23 pm
by musicaloddball
Hey there,
I joined last year, but was never really active because last year was insanely busy for me with college applications, auditions for music schools, high school stuff, etc.
Now that I'm in college/music conservatory and I have like, no friends at school, I am back, for at least a little while. Yay!
So this is kind of my re-into thread. Ask away!
~Murb~ (my internet alias)

Thanks!
1. Yes, I'm majoring in piano performance and I sing a lot too.
2. I love the music department, and I love how easy most of my GE classes are, compared to high school. lol
3. My school is HUGE (38,000 students) so it's hard to get around. And I don't really feel like I fit in very well with the other piano majors, even though I'm pretty sure that's not my fault and not their fault either.
4. I live in a suburb, but I'd rather live in the country. Too noisy here. :p
1. Favorite writers?
2. Favorite animals?
3. Favorite actors/actresses?
1. Tolkien, Dickens, CS Lewis, GK Chesterton. I don't read books as much as I'd like to. :p
2. I LOVE BIRDS ESPECIALLY PENGUINS.
3. Robert Downey Jr., Jennifer Connelly, Adrian Brody, Viggo Mortensen, Nathan Fillion
i'm trying to think of something about you that i don't know.....
What's your fav book?
Currently, Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl.
On a side note, you guys have the cutest smilies here.

Well since you answered it I'll fall back onto my auxiliary question.
What sports do you enjoy watching and what teams do you root for?

Nate (post: 1436313) wrote:How in the world did you get the nickname "Murb?"
The answer is actually a little longer than what sam said, but it did start with a Furbie. Back when Furbies were cool, I wanted one really bad, and when I finally got one, my older sister started calling me Murbie. Murbie is actually meant to be a mash-up of my real name, Mary, and the word Furbie. Then, I started hanging out on Catholic homeschooler boards, and it's a general rule that when Catholics get together, there are at least 3 girls named Mary. This gets confusing.
Since Murbie was the latest stupid nickname my sister had come up with at the time, I told people to call me Murbie. Over the years of my message boarding, it has evolved into many different forms such as Murbs, Murbz, Murbsie, Murbsical, Murbitty, and of course, Murb. Murb is the coolest sounding to me, but you are all welcome to call me any of the "Murbie" variations.
What sports do you enjoy watching and what teams do you root for?
Um, I don't watch sports unless my friends or family happen to be watching it when I'm around them and then I root for the teams they root for, which usually is the Lakers. I was in Europe during the World Cup finals this year so I watched the games because everybody else was, but I wasn't really rooting for anybody. lol I just wanted the Spaniards to stop singing outside my window at insane hours of the night after they won.
Wow, that was a lot of talking.

1. I really don't like rock that much, but I like some songs from Kutless, Lifehouse, Switchfoot, and Relient K.
2. I love everything Disney Pixar. But the rest of Disney is a mixed bag, IMO. Some of it's awesome, some of it's mediocre, some of it is just lame.

1. Highschool Musical
2. Yeah, Gregorian Chant, polyphony, etc.
3. IDK really. Definitely not one of the contemplative orders. I mean, praying is awesome, but I'm sure I'm not meant to do it all day. There is a religious order that helps homeless and abused kids in downtown...
4. I'm in college and I'm majoring in music.

Not really. I look at TV show previews and occasionally when I'm bored, I'll go online and watch something that interested me.
Nope
Again, nope
I want to though! I will see it one of these days.

The correct way to eat a banana is to let someone else eat it. :p Bananas smell and taste disgusting. I used to eat bananas, but then when I was 7, I ate one and it made me hurl and I could never eat one again without feeling like I'm gonna hurl.

I don't see how you could think bananas smell disgusting, although I understand with your unique experience, you'd be apprehensive around them. When I was in the Navy, I bought a five pound bag of gummy bears, and on request of the EOOW at the time, I set out to see how many gummy bears I could fit into my mouth at once. They started sliding down the back of my throat when I got to around 50 and I nearly threw up but I was told I could not puke, and I must eat them all.
After that, it was about three years before someone could even say the words "gummy bears" without me feeling like I was going to throw up, and another couple after that before I could eat them again.
But hey this is your thread, not mine. So then. Question, question, let's see...
You mentioned you were in Europe...what places did you go to while you were there?
I hope this isn't getting too personal, and you can feel free to PM me the answer if you're afraid it'll start a debate, or choose to not answer it at all...oh, and I'm not asking this question for ulterior motives, I'm just genuinely curious. You were raised Catholic, I assume (you mentioned a Catholic homeschool message board). Do you feel strongly about Catholicism, are you indifferent to it, or are you not particularly fond of it? Again, I'm just curious, feel free to not answer if you wish.
What, in your opinion, is the best kind of potato chip flavoring?
What beverages are your favorites, or at the very least, the ones you drink most often?

Nate (post: 1437585) wrote:I don't see how you could think bananas smell disgusting,
I know it sounds crazy, but they do! Once, my mom tried to give me this smoothie she made with lots of different fruits and little bit of banana. I took one sniff, and I could tell there was banana in it. And I can tell when someone in the room is eating a banana just by the way the room smells (or rather, stinks to me.
)

Whoa, that's almost exactly like me. I wonder if I will one day be able to eat bananas, since you able to eat gummy bears eventually.
You mentioned you were in Europe...what places did you go to while you were there?
I've been to Italy, France, and Portugal. I might go to Spain next summer.

I believe that the Catholic Church is the True Church established by Jesus Christ and handed on to us by His Apostles and their own appointed successors. I know that's a strong statement. I don't mean to be "in your face." That is just really what I believe about the Catholic Church. Feel free to PM me to talk further.
What, in your opinion, is the best kind of potato chip flavoring?
