I'm an RL friend of Zelly. My name is Anne. I joined some time ago. I have been inactive. I wish I had a witty screenname. I'm an English Teacher in Japan. I don't believe in compound sentences.

Hey! XD So do you think you're going to become a regular (or semi-regular) board member?
Do you watch/read anime or manga?

I think I just might. This place seems like a good place to get my groove on.
I do indeed. I love (LOVE! >:O) FMA (Brotherhood, not that first one), as well as Ouran High School Host Club. I also enjoyed Fruits Basket, Vampire Knight, Bleach (although I kind of stopped keeping up with it around episode 165 or so), and a few others. I can't remember right now. It's been a while.
How's about yourself?

Me? I love anime and manga! FMA: Brotherhood is awesome, but I have a variety of things I like, from the Aria series, to Monster, to ... well, a lot of psychological end up on my favorites list XD
And those are just the anime! I have a wide and varied taste in manga, too, like 1/2 Prince (action/romance/comedy), 20th Century Boys (action/psychological), and Gakuen Alice (fantasy/romance). But I love it all!
PS- Ouran is one of my most FAVORITE anime ever! I'm so glad you're a fan, too!
So what place do you think you want to visit the most?
Strangest place you've been on a trip?
Favorite dessert?

Rome.
Strangest place? Uh... I think maybe a Japanese onsen. Those kind of win at being strange. And awkward.
I love (
LOVE!! ) cookies'n'cream ice cream. I also love doraiyaki. And freshly made chocolate chip cookies! And oatmeal raisin cookies! And brownies! In fact, I think it's hard to find a dessert I don't like. I'm a total sugar monster.
y tu?

Because compound sentences... *puts on sunglasses* killed my father.

Thank you. That's high praise, coming from a wizard. I assume you enjoy the finest that the Palantir and Galadriel's Mirror have to offer?

Cookies and Cream ice cream! YEAH! I also love Rocky Road ice cream and ginger ice cream (the last of which I get almost NEVER!
) Cookies and brownies are awesome (turtle brownies a la mode are heavenly!), and my one that I can't get because I'm no longer in England is Sticky Toffee pudding. But I can make my teacher's Special Chocolate Chip Cookies. I'm a sugar monster, too, so I can't decide what's my favorite!
So what's your favorite drink?
Favorite breakfast food?
Strangest thing you've eaten in Japan?
Most interesting place you've visited in Japan?

You've been to England? I am envious. I want to go there. And everywhere. Been anywhere else?
I love (LOVE!:lickbash:) any form of sweet milky coffee drink. As well as milky sweet tea drinks.
I'm a huge fan of breakfast foods in general, so I don't think I really have a favorite... I do like IHOP pancakes with butter pecan syrup, though...
I've eaten some strange things in Japan, so... I'm not sure what the weirdest thing would be. A squid, octopus, and shrimp pancake-like thing called okonomiyaki. I loved it, but it was fairly strange. Also, deep fried mint leaves.
The most interesting place I've been in Japan is Nikko, which is up in the mountains north of Tokyo, and has the ancient shrines where the "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" monkeys originally came from. I teach some classes up there, and I love it! It's gorgeous.

Do you like sweetened condensed milk? That's sweet and milky.

I love okonomiyaki. I wouldn't say it's the strangest I've had. Doesn't it mean something along the lines of "put in what you like"? So mine didn't include the squid or octopus. So maybe that added to the strangeness...
Also, I've been in an onsen with some non-strangers...
Okay, your favourite out of Trinidad and Tobago?
So you're not in Japan now? But you're returning?
Are you much of a reader? Read any good books lately?

Welcome back. Your user name looks familiar; I might have seen you around before.
That's cool that you went to Nikko. I used to see ads for that place all the time when I lived in Tokyo, but sadly, I never got around to taking a trip up there.
So, what other places in Japan have you been to?

vintage-rose (post: 1414601) wrote:You've been to England? I am envious. I want to go there. And everywhere. Been anywhere else?
Well, when I was in England, I took a weekend trip to Paris, which was pretty awesome! XD Though I have to say, I preferred London over Paris, if only for the ease of use in getting around- most Parisians do not know English, and I only have VERY basic French. But I saw the Louvre and Versaille while I was there!
I've also had Okonomiyaki before (we have an asian market that has a food court semi-near my house), and it didn't have octoupus and squid in it, though o.O" But it was sooo delicious! The fried mint leaves sound wierd, though!
What are your students like?
Was it hard getting approval to teach in Japan?
What are some anime/manga series you can get in Japan, but would like to see licensed in America so you don't have to pay loljapan prices?

Wait... how can you be missing for three or more decades when you're only 22. Even the least among of years implied by decades would require you to have joined CAA at the age of 2... which would really be amazing!
Anyways, welcome back!

My favourite what out of Trinidad and Tobago?
Oh, no, I'm in Japan right now.
Yes, in fact. I read Crime and Punishment a little while back, and I just finished Too Busy Not to Pray by Bill Hybels. Both were excellent. y tu?
What's it like? Any language advice you can give me?
It's fairly awesome. My language advice is, go to smart.fm and sign up. It's the best Japanese teaching software ever, and it's free.
What are your students like?
Was it hard getting approval to teach in Japan?

My students are all pretty energetic and fun.
Umm... well, I didn't go the traditional route of using a program like JET or JESH or anything like that. I'm here as a private teacher with a church, using English teaching as a ministry, so I'm officially listed as a "religious worker." It wasn't too hard to get that all going.
Umm... well, I haven't actually been reading much Manga, but I did buy a Japanese version of the first volume of Fullmetal Alchemist as a way of studying Japanese a little more. And it was actually only about 400 yen, which rounds out to about five bucks. Much cheaper than in America. Anime... haven't watched any at all, actually. I haven't gotten around to it yet.
Read any webcomics?
I liked Inverloch and The Phoenix Requiem, though I haven't read the last of Requiem. Earthsong's not back, but the updates are always soooo slow.
