New Person from the Frozen North

Actually I am from a part of Canada that is considered a "desert", meaning it is only frozen half the year. :) I got into anime recently and I will blame my roommate at university last semester for that as well as YouTube. So far I have really only watched some of Hirao Miyazaki's stuff (I hope I spelled that right) and some TV series including Trinity Blood, some Trigun, and some Inuyasha.
One thing I dislike about anime is that it often features a lot of eastern thinking and mysticism (understandable since it originated in Japan) - namely Buddhism, Confucianism, and Shintoism. That does not mean I think Christians should condemn it entirely. I think anime is a great invention with a potential that I would like to see more Christian artists harness. For example, I like the idea of making an anime Pilgrim's Progress that some people here at CAA have started on. What did Jesus use when he wanted to teach people great truths? Parables and stories. Anime is a great way to tell a story and if it is a story from a Christian worldview, it has great potential to reach people all over the place.
So ya. That's my intro rant. Nice to meet you all and I will say that I love some of the quotes and pictures that people put in their signatures.

Welcome to CAA! I think you'll find a lot of people here that agree with your stance in your intro post! XD Have fun and post a bunch while you're here! Oh, and you've got a good signature yourself; I love Lewis's writings, and though I have yet to read any of Tozer's work, I've heard he's very good. XD Anyways, see you around the boards!

Hi and welcome! I can also blame YouTube for getting me into anime lol ^^

What you said is very true - it would be fantastic to see more Christian anime and manga.

Hope you have a good time here! The people are very friendly :D

Edit: oh and haha, I forgot, I'm also from Canada! Although, I doubt I'm as far north as you (I used to live in northern BC -don't anymore though...) but lol, that's cool ^^ We actually had snow in May >.<

Welcome
Wow,I have to let you know that that I totally agree with your post. One of my dreams is to someday be able to contribute in some way with anime or even manga that may bring a good message, and even get Christians more involved with it.
It truly does have a great potential for helping to reach others with the Truth.
Anyways,welcome to the Alliance.
Oh,and wait a sec!!!! Snow in may!??
O.O THAT is just...heaven.

lol, I like the snow and all, but our winter was already late in going away...it was going away at the middle-end of April, and then we were good with sunny days into May...and then it snowed. >.< I like the snow, but I like the summer too...

Hey! =)
Thanks for your post and welcome to caa!
I'm also a newbie here. ;) And your German is very good. I'm surprised that so many people here can speak this language. :wow!:

p.s.: Essen is the biggest city in the so called "Ruhrpott", an area where formerly cole was mined. It's the greatest conurbation of Germany with about 5.3 millions of people. :) And yeah, your right. Karlsruhe is in the south like bavaria.
