So, earlier tonight, I was looking for a good website for Christian otaku, since I am a Christian, and I am an otaku, but not many of my friends fall under both of those categories. I found this message board, and I was like, this is perfect! This is exactly what I was looking for.
I looked over the rules and the FAQ, and decided to join. I was a little worried about my username being taken, but imagine my shock when I tried to submit my registration, and it didn't go throught - not because my username was taken, but because my email address was taken!
I had no memory of ever having been to this website before, so, curious, I clicked the "Forgot your password?" button and entered my email address. Sure enough, I got an email with a new password, and one of the usernames I used to use a lot (wow, that's a lot of uses of "use"). I still had no memory of having registered here, but I signed on anyway. The first thing I saw was "Last sign in date: January 2006." 2006?!?! I wasn't even into anime back then!
But I guess, for some reason, I decided to register here back then. So now I'm stuck with a username I don't like any more. Oh well. I can live with it.
So, now that we've finished that little anecdote, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a senior in high school, and also dual enrolled in community college, and I'm a member of a conservative Mennonite church, although my brother and I are going to start looking for a new church soon. I got into anime late last year, I think around November, and I've been teaching myself Japanese ever since I started watching anime. I'd say I'm borderline fluent when it comes to speaking - I can carry on a simple conversation - and nowhere near fluent when it comes to writing. I have two siblings, both of which share my interests and are learning Japanese with me, so having them to practice with has helped my speaking skills quite a bit.
Hmm... some of my favorite anime are Tsubasa, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist, Azumanga Daioh, Full Metal Panic!, Cardcaptor Sakura, Ouran High School Host Club, Rurouni Kenshin, Lucky Star... okaay, I guess I should probably stop there. I'm currently watching Magic Knight Rayearth - I'm trying to watch all the CLAMP so I get the references in Tsubasa.
Well, some of my non-otaku interests are scrapbooking, cooking, sewing, computers, programming, graphic design, science, video games, and reading. I am a girl of many and diverse interests.
Some of my favorite video games are Final Fantasy (I've played VII, X, XI, and XII, but only beaten X), Legend of Zelda (played and beaten Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, played Majora's Mask and Phantom Hourglass), and Kingdom Hearts (beaten II, in the middle of I). I am definitely an RPG girl.
Some of my favorite books are The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, the Harry Potter books, Thr3e, Blink, and the Circle Trilogy by Ted Dekker, A Brief History of Time, The Princess Bride, etc, etc.
For anyone who actually read this entire post, thank you and congratulations! As you can tell, I enjoy writing, although I suppose if that's true, I should probably be working on my tutoring assignments instead of posting on this message board, but oh well. Yoroshiku ne!
