Konnichi puu~!

Postby Aletheia » Thu Oct 16, 2008 7:04 pm

So, earlier tonight, I was looking for a good website for Christian otaku, since I am a Christian, and I am an otaku, but not many of my friends fall under both of those categories. I found this message board, and I was like, this is perfect! This is exactly what I was looking for.

I looked over the rules and the FAQ, and decided to join. I was a little worried about my username being taken, but imagine my shock when I tried to submit my registration, and it didn't go throught - not because my username was taken, but because my email address was taken!

I had no memory of ever having been to this website before, so, curious, I clicked the "Forgot your password?" button and entered my email address. Sure enough, I got an email with a new password, and one of the usernames I used to use a lot (wow, that's a lot of uses of "use"). I still had no memory of having registered here, but I signed on anyway. The first thing I saw was "Last sign in date: January 2006." 2006?!?! I wasn't even into anime back then!

But I guess, for some reason, I decided to register here back then. So now I'm stuck with a username I don't like any more. Oh well. I can live with it. :)

So, now that we've finished that little anecdote, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a senior in high school, and also dual enrolled in community college, and I'm a member of a conservative Mennonite church, although my brother and I are going to start looking for a new church soon. I got into anime late last year, I think around November, and I've been teaching myself Japanese ever since I started watching anime. I'd say I'm borderline fluent when it comes to speaking - I can carry on a simple conversation - and nowhere near fluent when it comes to writing. I have two siblings, both of which share my interests and are learning Japanese with me, so having them to practice with has helped my speaking skills quite a bit.

Hmm... some of my favorite anime are Tsubasa, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist, Azumanga Daioh, Full Metal Panic!, Cardcaptor Sakura, Ouran High School Host Club, Rurouni Kenshin, Lucky Star... okaay, I guess I should probably stop there. I'm currently watching Magic Knight Rayearth - I'm trying to watch all the CLAMP so I get the references in Tsubasa.

Well, some of my non-otaku interests are scrapbooking, cooking, sewing, computers, programming, graphic design, science, video games, and reading. I am a girl of many and diverse interests.

Some of my favorite video games are Final Fantasy (I've played VII, X, XI, and XII, but only beaten X), Legend of Zelda (played and beaten Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, played Majora's Mask and Phantom Hourglass), and Kingdom Hearts (beaten II, in the middle of I). I am definitely an RPG girl.

Some of my favorite books are The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, the Harry Potter books, Thr3e, Blink, and the Circle Trilogy by Ted Dekker, A Brief History of Time, The Princess Bride, etc, etc.

For anyone who actually read this entire post, thank you and congratulations! As you can tell, I enjoy writing, although I suppose if that's true, I should probably be working on my tutoring assignments instead of posting on this message board, but oh well. Yoroshiku ne! ;)

Hey crashings12. Wow that's really weird! Is this a Twilight zone moment where your other self goes around opening acounts for things you don't even like at the time? I don't know, but what I do know is that you've seen a great selection of anime and played some good games as well. Im also a diehard RPG gamer! So if you want any suggestions I can help with games from Gamecube and PS2. And that's great that your learning Japanese, because Ive always wanted to but never gotten around to do it. Im also a senior in high school! I hope you have a wonderful time on CAA!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! :) Lol yeah, I guess this may be proof that I have a (perhaps not so) evil twin. Animedude90, I'd love some more game suggestions, although I probably won't be able to get to them for a couple of years. I have so many games I need to play, it will probably take that long or longer before I'm done with them. :P

Popsicle - Yes! Ouran pwns!

Anyway, thanks everyone, and see you around the boards!

Hi there! Welcome to CAA! You seem like you'll fit right in here! XD First off, I'll tell you that, if you like, I can change your username for you! You only get to change it once, though, so be sure it's something you like a lot!

Secondly, yaaay Final Fantasy games (Zelda and KH, too)! I have to recommend FFVIII; it's my favorite ever! Definitely try tracking down a copy one of these days!

Third, YAAY Princess Bride fan!! I've been reading the book recently, and it's becoming a fast favorite. XD Actually, it was essentially a favorite already, if only because the movie's been one of my favorites for years now. XD I'm assuming you like the movie, too?

Anyways, post a bunch and have fun! See you around the boards, and if you have any questions, just ask!

I WAS going to spend a few minutes writing something up, but seriously...

[quote="Radical Dreamer (post: 1264711)"]Secondly, yaaay Final Fantasy games (Zelda and KH, too)! I have to recommend FFVIII]
^ This sums up my thoughts almost exactly. :thumb:

Would also recommend the two Chrono games (Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross) and Xenogears, if you liked the Final Fantasy series (they're made by Square as well, actually). They're a bit hard to get a hold of these days, but definitely some of the best RPGs I've ever played.

Anyways, welcome to CAA. Hope to see you around, it seems as though you'll fit right in here :P.

AAHHH How did I forget Cross and Trigger? They're my favorite games ever, so I definitely back that recommendation 110%! XD I just wish they'd have finished their Chrono Break project. Such a shame that never came to fruition!

o.O That is a lot of games. I'm seeing my weekends filling up for the next five years or so. Wow. Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. ^^ Yeah, my brother has told me the Chrono games are good. I'll probably get around to them one of these days. And Final Fantasy VIII is definitely on my list. I'll probably let my sister buy it though, and then play it a couple months after she finishes, when I've finally beaten the last two games she bought. ^^

Radical Dreamer - Thank you, I think I shall take you up on that offer. And yes! I love the Princess Bride. I watched the movie first, too. I watched it with one of my teachers years ago, and I'd been meaning to read the book ever since I found out it was based on a book, but only recently found it in the library. Great, great book.

Don't even start me on this one. I was so excited when I heard they had registered the trademark Chrono Break back in the day. I was also equally disappointed when nothing eventuated out of it. :/
