Hey! I'm Tal, and am (quite obviously) new here...

Not much else to say right now, really... I'm gonna go browse the forums for a bit.

In the meantime, watch the dancing banana.

/edit

Decided to put more about me now that I have time.

I'm a video game design major from Vermont, and enjoy anime a lot (or I wouldn't be here, would I?) I'm a sketch artist with some decent photoshoppery skills as well.

More to come, must get back to work!

FullMetal Alchemist and FLCL are probably my two favorite anime... manga I haven't really had time to delve into much lately, so I dunno.

Having fun so far!

Awww, that's cool ^^ I'm sure you'll fit in perfectly here :) FMA and FLCL are both very good animes ^^ FMA has the good mix of seriousness and silliness. While FLCL.. that's just straight up comedy for ya

Ooh, Chrono Crusade.. I still have yet to finish that >_>; I liked it so far ^^ I think I left off on episode 5 or 6 :) I can't quite remember  I've never seen Gurren Laggan, but has heard about it here and there ^^

Gurren is definitely worth it, I haven't gotten to the end yet but it's epic and dramatic, and definitely a good time.

I have all of Chrono, I may watch more tonight because I have tons of 3D modeling work to do :(

One anime I would love to finish up is "When They Cry" u_u Yes, it's not quite my kind of anime that I'm used to watching, but I really liked it ^^ I'm more into the romantic comedy (and action of course :P), but this one is that disturbing/weird type :D It reminds me of Paranoia Agent :D

What genres are you into ^^

Wow, college is like having a full time job, know how that feels, especially if you're working as well as attending classes. Make me some kick-butt games to play in the future! :thumb:

It's normally induced by lack of sleep and an unnecessary amount of sugar and/or caffeine. That part is normally induced by 3D modeling homework. :) However, I have two monitors, and that means I can browse the web (read:here) while 'working' as well!

Thanks! The problem is that the homework is never done. The day one project is due is the day another one starts, and this summer (which starts in 4 weeks) I have to make an entire game and plan another one to make in the fall. O_o.

Nevvvvvver finished, only sometimes in a state of allowable procrastination.

Still, glad to be here in the CAA, the only place that has both the C AND the A. And also the other A, but that seems to be a bonus. :)

Game design is tough stuff. There aren't that many colleges or universities out there that offer a four-year bachelor's degree in it yet, though the number is growing. Unfortunately, most of the programs out there are regarded by the industry as poor. Our program seems to be doing a lot of things right, but there are, as with any program, issues as well.

It's intense stuff. Our program is divided into three different majors- Designers, Artists, and Programmers. I'm design, but while your major defines your focus you still have to take elements of all three.

Case in point: I'm currently bashing my head over the wall over 3D modeling. It's difficult, but the results are good if you put ridiculous amounts of time into it.

There are some classes that are exclusive to specific focuses (i.e. I had Player Driven Game Design last semester), as well as some that are cooperative between all three (Game Production 1, which I am currently working in).

The idea of the overall program is to give students the knowledge they need about how to make current-gen games and how the process generally works, so that they can get jobs in the industry. You get out of it what you put into it, and to really succeed in something like this it requires most of your free time. That doesn't make it sound very fun, but it's actually entirely worth it. I'm a Sophomore at the moment, almost a Junior, and the next two years I'm focusing on building a portfolio and making contacts so I can get my name out there and find a job.

Anything else in particular?
