Hello Everyone @ CAA.
Just a believer who enjoys all types of anime. I don't worry about defending God, found out He has a much bigger fist than me.
Enjoying Life in the Light and working on spreading a little of it around.
Would love to one day see an anime based off of the works of Frank Peretti.
Shalom

Hey! Welcome to the site! Hope you enjoy yourself!
tripperdan99 wrote: PS Just remember: God hates religion (chew on that for a minute or two.)
This is a minor side note, but, I disagree with that statement. Don't know if you've looked it up, but this is the first definition of "religion""
dictionary wrote:1. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as
creator and governor of the universe.
2. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
And I'm pretty sure He doesn't hate that
. Though for some reason lots of people like to say He does nowadays.
Anyways, back to the main topic: Have fun here and post lots! ^_^

welcome to the caa tripper, you may be pleasantly surprised at the work being put into christian japanese style webcomics around here, but i also agree, i think peretti and maybe even ted dekker both have some great stories that would do very well as either anime or manga
relax yumie, i think what tripper's trying to say is that God doesn't want us to think that He is the legalist that the pharisees of Jesus's day had made Him out to be, and that God puts our relationship with Him at a higher priority than making sure that we're all obeying the rules
but you are right in that God doesn't "hate" religion

Don't worry, it really doesn't bother me, it's just something that I've discussed with a few people recently, so the dictionary reference was fresh on my mind. And when I told me friend what religion meant, he was like, "Oh. . . I didn't know that. . . I guess I always thought of it as something different. . ." XD. I understand everyone's point on legalism, but, religion doesn't necessarily equal legalism, lol. But, enough hijacking of this welcome thread! To make this post useful, I will proceed to ask td99 a few questions, if he wishes to answer!
1. What's your favorite anime/manga?
2. Have a favorite Bible verse?
3. What is your favorite smiley from the selection we have to offer?

Still, it's not a comment that should be accepted here. With a misunderstanding among those denominations where the idea of Church is important, it can appear to be an attack.

Or we could let the moderators deal with that and do our part to welcome new-comers.
*waves* Hello and welcome! What kinds of anime and/or manga do you like?

hello and welcome to CAA! enjoy the posting
and can we just all agree that the opposite of that statement is true? that God loves having a relationship with us?
that seems to be what we're all getting at, just in different ways ^_^

Bingo, I realize "hate" might be a strong word, but just going through the Word and seeing the specific expression that the Master had towards 'religion' sort of helped fuel the term that I used.
Sorry, I should've been less forthcoming with my statements. I will be more tempered.
Thanks to everyone for their input and insights.

((I hope posting twice in a roll is not considered spaming!))
Thank you Yumie for asking. I have a broad enjoyment of anime. Some very edgy that I'd never let my kids watch, but others that we watch together.
I'm a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki and look forward of Disney's March 7th release of all of Studio Ghibli's works.
I enjoy lots of unlicensed anime (absolutely no hentai obviously).
Here is a list of anime that I've enjoyed so far/ currently watching:
Gundam Seed
Gundam Seed Destiny (watched both GS and GSD 4 times now)
Chrono Crusade (just finished)
Ah! My Goddess (this will have a 2nd season coming soon)
Aria The Animation (very cute anime, safe one)
To Heart 2 (cute)
Jigoku Shoujo (hell girl, not for kids)
Noein
Bleach
Naruto (sub, not dub)
Fruits Basket
Last Exile
Avatar (not true anime, but still good)
Hard to say favorite. Even though I prefer action, sci fi, etc for some reason I've enjoyed "Ah! My Goddess" a whole lot more than I ever thought I would. If anyone tries to claim I said this, I shall disavow every knowing what you're talking about!!
Favorite Verse? So many for so many seasons. Proverbs 3:5-7
Fav smiley? The Classic
Thanks for asking.

Highlighted that one because I like it too, Natsuki Takaya is so brilliant. I have to say I like the manga more though, since they had to rush the ending in the anime.

Oh, I started to watch that! Then my sister sent it back to Blockbuster before I got to finish it.
Sisters. Well, sounds like we have some mutual interests! And, might I add that watching anime with the family is pretty cool, my sister and I have now converted all our younger siblings into avid anime fans, ha ha, and I say the more the merrier. Anyways, thanks for sharing!

Have you seen Aria the Animation?
It's simply a wonderful anime that's just a "slice of life" story.
I plan to let my daughter watch this one.
Also agree on the Fruits Basket, was disappointed with the wrap up even though the last two episodes were refreshingly "intense" for the series. Enjoyed the way a simple heart dispelled a complex situation. Could gain a lot of parallels from this anime. Hoping they may one day do a continuation.
Sat down with the whole family when Turner Classics was running "My Neighbor Toroto" What a wonderful family film. Would love to ride the cat bus.

Yes Pr 3:5-6 is one of my favorites for sure, but remember, vs 7 anchors it down, imho. (vs 8 provides the results)
