Hey folks. I just registered today, but I've been an extreme anime fan since I was about six. I've also been an extreme Christian all my life. Many might argue that the two don't mix (yeah, that an my obssession with communist dictators hehehe). However, anime is a beautiful and profound form of artwork. Just like any other genre; there is good stuff and bad stuff. However, most anime fans tend to glorify the bad, thereby causing people to sterrotype all anime as having "low morality standards." *sighz* Oh if only all anime fans were like you folks. Hrmm...I'll try to post here once in awhile when I get the chance.
-Over and out comrades.

Hiya. Are you actually from Russia, or does your username stem from said obsession with communist dictators?

My reaction was the same as yours when I found this site. I can still remember shaking as I made my first post, thinking that, somehow, this site couldn't be what it seemed to be.
Anways, welcome to the site! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

Whooop! Chocolate pocky sticks!
Thanks, wingzero-san. Nope, I'm sadly not actually Russian. The screen name comes from my obssession with communist dictators. I plan to start a totalitarian regime someday. ^_^ Back in the USSR...Dunno how lucky you are, right? Heh. Yeah, I was really surprised to find this site. So, here's my next question: Do any of you know of any good actual Christian animes? I know it's a shot in the dark, but I always thought a "manga Bible" (for entertainment purposes only obviously. Not to be interpreted as scripture) would be a great idea.

Hello and welcome! *leaves the Japanese to shooraijin*
If you do not mind answering, I have these questions for you.
How did you become a Christian?
Who would you say has been a shepherd to you and how? That is, who is a more mature Christian that you have learned from and been guided by?
Are there any passages of Scripture that you particularly like or have meaning for you?
Do you know what your gift is in the body the Christ?

Yep, hehehe. I'd say "loud and grandiose" pretty much fits me. Nice to meet ya, Rabid Duckie. You too, shooraijin. *Breaks out the strawberry pocky and seaweed cookies*
ENJOY CAA MEMBERS! You're doing the world of anime geeks a good service.

You certainly sound like an interesting bundle of contradictions.
So:
1.What are your all time top 5 anime series?
2.Who is your favorite dictator to read about?
3.Do you like Sir Paul McCartney's Back In The U.S.S.R. album?
4.If two pink fuzzy bunnies mate what color will their offspring be?

Someone else who thinks the former USSR was really interesting, I am impressed. Most people seem to forget it existed *sigh*. No more totalitarian insanity to brighten our days.
Welcome, comrade! Borscht and black bread, err, I mean ramune and pocky for you!

Hey, I like the former USSR too, from a distance, that is. I'm something of a Russophile myself. I hope to visit St. Petersburgh someday.
Anyway, welcome to the forums. I hope you enjoy it here.

Doubleshadow, hey there. Sorry, I didn't see your post until after.
Let's see...I was raised Christian, but I feel that I truly began to understand what it was all about when I was like 11 and finished reading the entire New Testament (King James version...I'm kinda an advocate for the original King James or New American Standard versions). I was absolutely touched by the Holy Spirit and the love of Jesus, who would of course be my ultimate "sheperd." As for other Christians, I'd say I learned a lot from my dad. My current church pastor has also helped me grow in the scripture a lot. Favorite passages? Heh. I have a lot! I really like Jeremiah 6:16 though. "Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls."
Yes, I know what a gift I have in my salvation by the grace of Jesus Christ. A gift I did absolutely nothing to merit. By His blood alone were my sins forgiven, giving me a personal relationship with God the Father.
Puritan, ay, comrade. We USSR fans must stick together. I remember the USSR back in its glory days. *sigh* Those commies are such funny people.
1.What are your all time top 5 anime series?
1.) ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING BY HAYAO MIYAZAKI!!! (Specifically Spirited Away is probably at the top. Favorite manga=Nausicaa).
2.) Final Fantasy (games and anime, but mostly games....that is until Advent Children comes to the U.S.)
3.) Ruroni Kenshin
4.) Pretear
5.) Tenchi Muyo
2.Who is your favorite dictator to read about?
I like Chairman Mao Zedong the best. He had a lot of "pep" in his dictatorship.
3.Do you like Sir Paul McCartney's Back In The U.S.S.R. album?
You bet I do! Best song he ever wrote.
4.If two pink fuzzy bunnies mate what color will their offspring be?
Uhmm...a slipper with a mop of marroon hair.

hey! welcome USSRGirl!
I'm bad at introducing people because of when I get on... oie.
Miyazaki films rock.
Ruroni Kenshin rocks too.
In any case, glad you joined any have fun.
Oh also, for the Christian anime question, I recently learned about something called Serenity, a christian manga. It has a mix of American cartoon and Japanese manga sorta mixed in (in my humble opinion). It seems like it's off to a clunky start right now, but I'm interested enough to keep reading.
As for anime, ask around to different members. I'm kinda new myself but from what I hear, most of the Christian animes are focused on a young aged audience.

WHUAT!!... is your quest?
My quest? Hrmm...I have so many. To have my novel published RandomHouse, become a totalitarian world leader, get my DVD player fixed before FF:AC comes out, and spread the gospel on my lunch break! ^_^;
WHUAT!!... is your favourite colour??
Ermm...aquamarine?
(or) WHUAT!!... istheairspeedvelocityofanunleadenswallow??
Serenity, huh? Hrmm...I'll have to check that one out.
NONE! For the swallow shall not be able to leave the ground.

Thanks for answering, USSRgirl. My last question was poorly phrased, I meant do you know what your spiritual gifts are? Like ministry, music, healing...

Interestingly enough, she was right. It wasn't what it seemed to be, but was, rather, an advertisement for Heinz Ketchup
cleverly disguised as a christian anime web site.
Welcome, and buy Heinz Ketchup!

I had a similar reaction of disbelief, but I think it came from an entirely different place. As an outsider to the religion, literally all the websights I have seen regaring both Christianity and Anime involved angry mothers decrying the evils of Anime, and people claiming that it was the work of Satan.
It was more than refreshing to see a group of people open minded enough to see that an art form isn't inherently evil.

Doubleshadow, ooooh I gotcha. I think I'm pretty "gifted" in writing Christian fantasy (along the lines of C.S. Lewis). I'm not quite sure what you meant by "healing," but I do not believe that human beings can "heal" in the spiritual sense of the word.
Yeeee-OOOOOOO! Indeed.

I think Kenshin and Inuyasha are the two most popular animes here.
As far as it goes Marx thought Communism would start in a country like the U.K. or
U.S. he didn't imagine a poor backward country like Russia.

Do we really want to go there? I'll note Marx was not a politician, and during his lifetime even was known to say, in response to what people did with his ideas, "I am not a Marxist." Now I'll leave it alone.
I hope you get a chance to really look around CAA and make yourself at home, USSRGirl.
