My anime journey (so far)

Postby kryptech » Mon Nov 29, 2004 6:12 am

Hullo! ß-) I'm sort new here - a tad more than a week I guess. I've been interested in anime for a while though I've didn't really get into it much. I suppose it kinda started with Pokemon, first the game then the TV show. Um, ya... I dumped it eventually due to its silliness but meanwhile I caught a fair bit of Digimon, which is more serious than Pokemon, and a few other Saturday morning anime shows. I don't keep up with any of that now since I find most of the shows airing there now are kinda shallow for my tastes. A few Christmas's ago a friend of mine requested that I make a model of Ranma from Ranma 1/2 and so that brought me a little more into the anime world. I also stumbled across the Animematrix and downloaded 4 from the Matrix site and looked through all the "comics" they have too. And not long ago I came across http://www.DownloadAnime.org and started downloading some episodes from there - GitS: SAC, Gundam Turn A, and Naruto. I dumped the GitS episodes for the language, violence, and other objectionable content and I've not been pleased with some scenes in Gundam Turn A. I wanted to find some resource where I could dig up some instructions on navigating the confusing (and sometime troubling) world of anime, from a Christian view point. I use http://www.PluggedInOnline.com a lot for movie reviews and one of their articles mentioned CAA - sooo, here I am! I've very impressed and hope to expand my anime horizons, get into some good serieses (can you say "serieses"?), and maybe even make some friends. See y'all around in the wired!

Welcome aboard, kryptech. You've come to the right place - we focus on talking about anime from a Christian perspect, so please take a look around. If you have questions about a specific series, feel free to ask.

Ah ha! Our second Plugged In convert!! *insert evil laughter* We have you now.

Just kidding. Well, Hi! I'm Mangafanatic, more commonly known as Osaka. While I'm more knowledgeable in the manga realm of fandom, if you have any question-- well, I'd be happy to help in whatever way I can.

With introductions aside, we'd be happy to help you with all your anime viewing needs. I'll go consult the magical search button.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Hello there, kryptech, good to have you aboard!

Ranma is a classic to start with! The tapes are so expensive now though....$5 and episode, even!!

Another place to download anime via bittorrent is animesuki.com I highly reccommend the site!

BTW...this is your thread, so if you want "serieses" to be a word, then by golly, it is!

Welcome to CAA. I hope you enjoy it here and post lots :)

You can also use any peer to peer downloading program to download anime. :)

Love is that feeling you get when a girl looks at you and it feels like your driving a car at high speeds and experience a sudden drop. You know what i mean? That sudden sinking feeling you get in your stomach? Yeah, that's love. Leave's you speechless everytime.

Whoa! Didn't expect such a rapid welcome! What a thoughtful bunch - thanks guys and girls! ß-)

Mangafanatic (a.k.a. Osaka): Ya, PluggedInOnline.com rocks! I am on there like every 2 days. I pretty much never watch a movie without checking what their review is like on it. Plus I think it is good to have an idea of the "heartbeat" of Hollywood, but without watching all that stuff myself. It is interested (and often frightening) to see what kinda stuff is being pumped into today's moviegoers.

Draggonshimmer: Ya, I've got AnimeSuki.com in my "Media Downloads" folder in Favourites too. ß-) Though so far I've not used it nearly as much as DownloadAnime.org. O, and thancs fer letting me gnow that I'm da bos ov gramre in thiz thred!

Wing0 and Smart: Thanks for the gifts! Sadly I'm allergic to Ramnu Soda - it gives me hives. ß-)

Anyway... I want to watch one of the two Naruto episodes sitting unobserved on my hard drive. So cheerio.

Hello, hi, g'mornin', and welcome to the Alliance. We do our best to make things ... interesting for the mortals.
Take it like you gave it; what else matters in the end? To be honest, it's all a one-shot test; that leaves plenty of places to go wrong, but how will you ever know? There's a pointer, I will admit. Turn it on, listen to it, feel it burn.

If you like, you can call me wing. Yeah, I really can't drink Ramnu soda that much. It makes me a bit sick.

My friends get sick everytime they eat pocky and Ramnu Soda.

*Bows* with great flourish in response to Zelda's welcome.

Angelchick: Yep, this place is fun! BTW, you've got a cool sig! I've still got to think of some spiffy little sig for myself...

Magekind: Maybe I should put my location as In front of the computer, more often than not too... So if one is so much part of the Net can one really be mortal? Because once one is disconnected, bits of that one will remain woven through the fabric of the wired and persist. Or, um, something like that...

Wing: Ah, so that's why you are always giving away Chocolate Pocky and Ramnu Soda - not because you like them but because they may you ill! ß-)
