A bit about me.

Postby Kokhiri Sojourn » Sat Nov 29, 2003 10:55 am

I've been here for a little while now, but seeing my post count, I think I may need to write a bit. I grew up in a christian home and am in college now. My family has had a tremendous influence on me and what I've become as a person. My grandmother taught me piano, and from that has developed a love for music that is a major part of my life. I never had an official rebellion stage or anything of the like, but I doubted my salvation for years because I thought I wasn't good enough to be a christian. Of course I had been taught about God's grace and love, but there is that fruit of the Spirit thing and passages about living what you believe. I don't know what happened, but one day it just clicked, and I realized what grace really meant (at least in part - I don't know if I'll ever understand it fully on this side of eternity), that Jesus was perfect and died on earth because I am a sinner, and I'll never be perfect, but He loves me in spite of myself, and this changed my life. I came into the anime world from a good friend who had also just discovered it, and it has only been about a year or so now, so I'm definitely new, but if you guys know of any good and relatively clean (no nudity or gross-out violence, etc.) anime, I'd love suggestions. Any their all over the place here, so I'm getting there. So that's a bit about me. I'll see you around the forum!

Hi Kokhiri! I'm glad you found this place. It's funny, how after a few years we finally figure out that Christ did everything for us and we don't have to do a thing but believe that He did it all. ^-^ All we have to do is keep growing in the knowledge and love of our Savior. Thanks for sharing about yourself and I hope to see you around more.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Thanks! It is great to see grace in the lives of others, and encouraging to know that there are other anime fans that are christians and can take the good and also filter the bad. I think that is partly why I like this site so much. Because I can pretty much trust the advise I get, content wise, and for the camaraderie. See ya! (I'm so long winded)

Welcome! :)

My favorite good anime series are Dragonball, Record of Lodoss War, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, and G Gundam.

Btw, there is a thread devoted to good anime in the "Anime" section of the forums, which can be found here:

I hope we hear a lot more of you in the near future. :)

Further info... an update of sorts

Postby Kokhiri Sojourn » Fri Dec 17, 2004 6:22 pm

I've decided to update my bio, as a sheepish statement of return to CAA, and also because it was rather pathetic to begin with.

Disclaimer: I'm probably going to pick and choose questions that I want to answer from other bios, and ones that I would find interesting myself. Shameless ripping also serves as shameless plugging, if Omega and Paladin are mentioned. So here is me...

Kokhiri Sojourn

Identity:

Name: Ah... not here. ;)

Siblings: Three - two brothers, one older, one younger, and one younger sister. None of them are real anime fans, but will occasionally be talked into watching some of it. They each have some anime series that they like, but don't really get any further into it than very occasional viewing.

Hair Color: Reddish, but not pure red anymore. It's darkening as I get older.

Hair Style: I have strange, wavy hair, with several random cowlicks that make everything awkward. I usually go from a short hair cut, to letting it grow out until I decide to cut it short again. It's all about expense, you know.

Eye Color: Hazel

Favorite Color: Green. Hands down, no comparison, for all time in each and every shade.

Lineage: Primarily Sweedish and German, but we're pretty well integrated into the melting pot.

Online Identity:

Username: Kokhiri Sojourn. It is taken partially from Zelda - the kokhiri people of which Link is a member. I love the Ocarina of Time, and to me, Link was the outsider without the fairy to guide him until later and then he went on a quest to defeat Gannondorf - you know the storyline. The Sojourn part of the name is a word used often in the Old Testament when speaking of the Israelites. It describes the way that they were separate, holy, from the people around them, because they didn't have an earthly home, but a heavenly home with the Trinity. Well, the two connect in vague ways, if stretched, and somehow, that was what became my username here.

Custom User Title: Wanderer under the Stars. Further emphasis on the username and because it says something about me, vaguely. Also refers to Abraham's descendants being as numerous as the stars in the sky, and the cloud of witnesses in Hebrews 12.

Personality:

Strengths: I only am putting this here because I am intentionally not answering it, and with just weaknesses showing, it would look rather pitiful indeed.

Weaknesses: I can be pretty consummed with troubles of other people and the troubles of the world at times, anything related to math is a weakness beyond early high school level, I can be unclear and wordy in my writing, have a tendency towards laziness, which I try to curb, and I am prideful in many ways.

What Annoys Me: Never showing up on time, condescension, rudeness, "lol" - if I actually laugh out loud staring at a computer, it deserves more than those three trite letters.

Other Notes: I am an introvert with some fair extrovert leanings, I have an analytical mind, I pace when talking on the phone and have a tendency to not sit down when others are sitting, and can't function well without a watch on me.

Beliefs:

Religion: Reformed Presbyterian, specifically a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC).

Political: Conservative republican, seeing as I don't do enough research to trust anyone else. I have a moderate aversion to politics, and wish that the government wasn't as large as it is.

Heroes: My aunt Sharon, and Barnabas in Acts. To tell you the truth though, I admire people for specific traits more than one person who has it all.

Regrets: All the things I've done wrong over the years, not pursuing things as much as I should have, not meeting things head on.

Preferences:

Degree: I started out Undeclared with a minor in Music/Piano. Changed the Piano minor to Music/Organ. Stayed Undeclared for a year an a half, when I declared English as my Major. A year later, changed my Major to Psychology, and added an English minor to my degree.

Sports: Volleyball, ultimate frisbee, Basketball, soccer

Favorite Movie: Wit. There is so much I could say about this movie, but everyone should see it at some point in their life. It deals with an English teacher (Emma Thompson) who discovers she has cancer gets treated for it and all the while chronicles through her life. The movie deals with many things: death, worldview, literature (specifically John Donne), humanity, and salvation.

Favorite Anime Series: Cowboy Bebop, among others.

Favorite Anime Movie: Voices of a Distant Star and Spirited Away, among others.

Favorite Poet: John Donne

Favorite Book: Till We Have Faces by C. S. Lewis, The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien, and Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

Hobbies: Anything related to music - playing or listening, anime and manga, reading in general, thinking...

I think that's a stopping point for me, for at least now. If anyone has questions, go ahead. This being the second time around constitutes gravedigging, so sorry about that, Mods.
