Newbie!

Postby NJel » Tue Sep 09, 2008 7:07 am

Hey guys!

New guy here, but I accidently came across the site one day by just typing in "Christian Anime" on Google to see if such a thing existed; lo and behold, I got an entire ALLIANCE dedicated to good, clean, and fun anime with anime lovers who themselves are the same way (even if they do have struggles here and there :) )

Anyways, just so you guys can get to know me... I go by the online alias 'NJel' that I took on to completely changed the way I communicated to my peers online.

What kind of background do I come from? Well, I was first saved when I was 4 years old. It wasn't until I was 12 when I started to back-slide pretty hardcore and found myself in a (for you anime knowers) "Yaoi" lifestyle. It's difficult to say how it occured. I know I never chose to be that way, and I never really felt that I was born that way, but it wasn't until I realized that I had been slippin' pretty far and found myself getting into things no human being was supposed to when I stopped what felt like the world around me and just cried out to Christ.

Then, on November 14, 2007 I gave my heart to the Lord and have been a christian ever since. I became abstinent (have been ever since) and just have been keeping myself extremely busy during the week with time to relax over the weekend. I have an amazing testimony about all of that; though, I'll save that for the appropriate thread.

I am currently writing a novel. It is entitled "Children of Prophecy" (that's the going title for it anyways) and it's got a really unique storyline that I feel will help witness to those sci-fi/fantasy fans out there, and encourage others who are christian to be just a little bit stronger in Christ and learn how. I use scripture references even in the titles to summarize the main idea of that specific chapter, and even for each individual part of the book.

I also do volunteer work at my church and I work full-time in retail. I feel retail is a significant area of a christian's life; especially, if that certain christian is young, because so many of the world's youth today shop in retail outlets, and it gives us younger retail workers the opportunity to witness to them and reach out to them. I help the media/tv department in our church for live audience feed and such. I'm currently training in Graphic Design so I can help our media department out even further.

Anyways, I'm sure you will come to know more about me via getting to know me personally or by reading my posts on various topics. I'll see ya on the threads! :D

Sincerely,

NJel

Hey NJel and welcome to CAA. It's great that you're right with the Lord because there are so many that aren't and try to mask it. I know what you mean, Ive back-slided alot too and later repented for it. But hey it's okay as long as you stay with the Lord like you have been doing then it's good. If you ever backslide again, you can still get back to God. Good nose, it will happen to me to too again.

But yeah it's great that you joined CAA and I promise that you will like it here. So enjoy!

- Abraham Kuyper

"God the great Creator of all things doth uphold, direct, dispose, and govern all creatures, actions, and things, from the greatest even to the least, by His most wise and holy providence, according to His infallible foreknowledge and the free and immutable counsel of His own will, to the praise of the glory of His wisdom, power, justice, goodness, and mercy."

-John Piper

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."
- Mark Driscoll

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."
- Martin Luther

"I have to tell you first that I am ready to die. I have put my affairs in order. Your supreme weapon is killing. My supreme weapon is dying, because when you kill me, people all over Romania will read my books and believe on the God that I preach - even more than they do now."

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
