He did really well with the new Star Trek IMHO, so this could actually be very interesting.

Nomoarlenseflarekthxbai.

I'm skeptical of the new Star Wars movie anyway, despite the director. It will be interesting to see what direction J.J. takes it, though.

Also, they are making The Simarillion into a movie (I didn't even know that)? I have very mixed feelings about J.J. directing that....

I hope that maybe JJ will talk to Disney about next three movies be base off some of the ideas that Lucas had for sequel. But if not, already have the rebuilding of the republic and Luke Skywalker being a premier Jedi knight and training the next group of jedis.

No, that's a joke. Because, you know, J.J. is getting involved in all of the nerdy franchises, so...

All joking aside, I actually like the new Star Trek and I'm sure that whatever Abrams does with Star Wars, it will be engaging, entertaining, and better than anything Lucas has done in the past twenty years.

He was originally adamantly against doing this, but my guess is he wen't back and watched episodes 1-3 and said 'eh, I can't do any worse than these'. The promise of a big check from Disney probably helped.

It seemed believable enough, at least. XD; Thanks for clearing that up for me before I jumped off a building though. :3

I agree, and actually after watching the new star Trek again, I'm even more hopeful now.

I heard that he apologized for the excessive lens flare in Star Trek.

I enjoyed aspects of Star Trek but the over-use of the lens-flare proved incredibly distracting. It was like someone who discovers the lens-flare option in Photoshop for the first time and uses it on everything to the detriment of the artwork. I greatly admire J.J. Abrams, (more for what he starts than what he finishes) but I really don't know what he was thinking there! As for Star Wars, he could do a very good job, provided the script isn't written by George Lucas.

I am sadly among the few who believe the episode 7-9 books to be the true canon. These movies could be AMAZING and i'll still be a little disappointed if they aren't based off the books...

Or if they don't include Starkiller...

I look forward to episode 7 being about a Jedi with Parkinson's running around with a holorecorder and only seeing the torso of the main villain.

Poor Abrams. People will never let him forget the lens flare thing. I think at some time he did admit that it was a big mistake to have them.

Don't worry, we can have some-what better hopes on this one, according to this.

Given the fact that Bobba Fett is my second favorite Star Wars character after General Veers...if the Boba Fett movie is just him hunting dudes for two hours, it could be a pretty cool time-killer.

This had so better happen. If not, I will personally hunt down the people who gave us the false hope of it, and make them suffer a slow and painful death.
