Tropes you like

I'm a fan of TVtropes.org, so I thought I'd post some of my fave tropes and why. Here goes:
1. Earn Your Happy Ending--This is when the heroes have to endure the worst trials and tribulations to get to the end. Somehow, this seems to make the conclusion more rewarding. Many fairy tales take this approach, especially "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen.
2. Scenery Porn (I wish they came up with a better name)--This is when the background or descriptions of it look just beautiful and more time is spent on them than the story. As someone who's experienced beautiful scenery in places like Utah and the Badlands, I know beautiful scenery exists in real life if one knows where to look. Besides, CG makes all kinds of pretty.
3. Improbable Weapon User--Admit it, it's funny when someone uses a pot to smack over someone's head.
4. Cloudcuckoolander--These are the weirdos. I love strange characters because they're so interesting. Whether it's Luna Lovegood, Osaka, or Jack Sparrow, they're often the most interesting characters in the story.
5. Crowning Moment of Funny
6. Crowning Moment of Heartwarming--I'm a softy.
7. Crowning Moment of Awesome
8. Ethereal Choir--admit it, you loved the chanting during the Darth Maul vs. Qui-Con Jinn fight in Star Wars I.
9. Magnificent:banned:--A lot of my favorite villains fall into this category. David Xanatos, Ra's Al Ghul, Rau La Cruset...they're all so awesome.
what about you?
10. Nakama--This is a group that's like family without the blood bond. One of the main reasons I was such a devoted X-men follower for so long was that I loved the familial aspect of the team. Especially when you consider the fact that so many of the characters had terrible childhoods.

1. World of Ham- because it's just so darn
funny when Everyone's acting it up!
2. Anvilicious- I love to make fun of stuff, and when it's easy to do so, I grab it with both hands!
3. Truth in Television- Because I love it when this happens
4. Writer Revolution (and as an addenennum, Bored on Board and Take That)- because revenge can be funny.
5. All Natural Snake Oil- My mom is a sucker for this stuff, and I have to occasionally remind myself not to be bought into it.
6. Ax Crazy- Just because
7. Freudian Slip- We all have those moments!
8. Genre Savvy- Now, if only I could figure out mine...
9. Surrounded by idiots- I can sympathize.
10. Getting
Past The Radar- 'cause I love it when it happens!

BFG--Guy toting around a huge weapon is just that cool
Chekhov's Skill--If something is introduced in the first act, it must be used by the final act
Getting Junk Past the Radar--I get a weird kick out of reading the examples and saying "I can't believe I missed that!"
The Woobie--Wall-E, anyone?
All the Crowning Moments

Load Bearing Boss - Somehow, some way, the death of the Big Bad (a classic trope) causes the destruction of the Evil Lair.

Bald of Awesome--"Make it so, Number One!"

I have a weird love of Noodle Incidents. Sometimes, context is a liability that must be done away with.

Ensemble Darkhorse--a character who's not a main character, yet has a fan following. Example: Lando Calrissian from Star wars.

I have WAY too many. TV Tropes is a seriously addictive website...here's a bunch as examples:
Affectionate Parody - I love it when series can wink at how silly something in a specific genre is without being nasty about it. Ouran is a great example.
Bland Name Product - always makes me chuckle, if done well
Bodyguard Crush - cuz it's sweet
Breaking the Fourth Wall - if it is done right, this can be hilarious. Of course, you can overdo it, too.
Caught the Heart on His Sleeve - cuz it's cute!
Character Development - this one should be pretty obvious
Crossdressing Voices - well, this needs some explanation. I'm usually highly amused/impressed by how well this can be done. And most of my favorite female seiyuu are famous for a character they voiced that was male. I honestly had moments where I wasn't so sure that Ed Elric was voiced by a woman the first time I watched FMA in Japanese.
Crouching Moron, Hidden Bad*ss - I usually find myself rooting for the awkward underdog, so when they all of a sudden show that they can be awesome...makes me squee. Clever title, too.
Pretty much all the Crowning Moment of....tropes. Oh, and Crowning Music of...tropes, too.
Cuteness Proximity - kittens make even the most manly men turn into goo. And it's awesome. lol.
Deadpan Snarker - SO many of my favorite characters fall into this category
Estrogen Brigade Bait - what can I say? I'm a girl. lol.
Gentle Giant - probably ties in to the cuteness proximity thing, methinks...
Hey it's That Voice - I love watching a show and all of a sudden going, "Oh, my gosh, that's Tamaki's voice! And he's a cold, manipulative killer! What the...?!" It's what got me interested in Death Note, after all...lol.
Hilarious Outtakes - Bloopers are one of my favorite extras
Huge Guy Tiny Girl - cuz it's cute!
Kuudere - not much of a "[fill in the blank]dere" fan in general, but this one is the one I dislike the least
Mad Scientist - see my sig
Not so Stoic - probably why I like the kuudere trope
No loves Intersect - it's just nice to not have a bunch of people constantly fighting over who will get to date who, you know?
Pale-skinned Brunette - dunno why, I've always liked the Snow White look
Security Cling - cuz it's sweet...usually. Sometimes it's just plain hilarious.
The Woobie - can't help it. I'm a softie

Crowning Music of Awesome/CMuoA(Video Games) - Awesome music is awesome.
Deconstruction/Deconstructed Trope/Deconstructor Fleet/Unbuilt Trope - I like taking things apart in fiction, especially worlds that other people have made. In stories and RPs, I like pulling the threads holding the world together, just to see what'll happen.
Just for Pun (Clasp Your Hands if You Deceive/Epic Flail/etc) - I like puns. So sue me.
Large Ham/Ham and Cheese/World of Ham - Overacting makes things better.
Money Dear Boy - Actors like getting paid too. Even if their movies stink.
Real Robot/Super Robot - A way of rethinking giant robots and their shows: by classifying them into one of these types.
Tank Goodness - Tanks are awesome too.
You Fail Geology Forever - Relevant to my interests.
And most importantly:
TV Tropes will Ruin Your Life - It worked for me!

I like
Decoy protagonists. Ironic that I'm not all that fond of FFXII.
Anti-villains
Shoutouts. HUGE fan of them. Like you would not believe. The fact that my first book has so few of them will probably be remedied before the final draft is published.
Earn your Happy ending. When things are truly screwed up, and the characters go through hell to finally get things at the end.
In general, I like the idea of deconstructing a trope, too, though I dislike many of the end results... Weird, I know.

More of my faves:
Action Girl: I tend to dislike quiet, weak, and submissive girls. I like the ones who actually stand up for themselves.
And the Fandom Rejoiced: Isn't it great when they actually care what we think?
Five Man Band: I like to try to figure out who's the lancer, the big guy, etc.
Covered Up: I like comparing covers to the original song.
Everything's Precious with Puppies: Cause I love dogs!
Morality Pet: The sidekick that humanizes your hero/villain. Particularly if they're anti-heroes/anti-villains
Even Evil Has Standards: Proves that not all villains are inhuman and pure evil.
What do You Mean, It's For Kids/Not For Kids: It's amazing what they put in children's entertainment or what gets mistaken for kids entertainment. (Pan's Labyrinth, anyone?)
Rescued From the Scrappy Heap: That character you hated? Yeah, he's awesome now, isn't he?
Alas Poor Scrappy: When the author makes you regret ever hating a character by killing him/her off in the worst way possible, often turning into a Dying Moment of Awesome.
Alas Poor Villain: No, villain! You were so cool!
Determinator: A character who has such a zeal to succeed and never gives up. This is why I like Naruto and Rock Lee.

An Ice Person-The world of fiction needs more ice people. Ice is fantastic.
Big Censored Heroes-One of my favorite CMoA tropes, even better after watching Firefly.
Calling Your Attacks-Because it's awesome.
Reconstruction-Because reconstructions really make you appreciate the genre and what's great about it.
TVTropes is fantastic.

About the only one I can think of at the moment is The Dev Team Thinks Of Everything. It's awesome when there's all those hidden things in video games.
Edit: I just noticed the irony of this...

Crap Sack World: A world that is extrememly dismal and depressing, usually a dystopia. Perfect worlds are so boring, aren't they? Example: Sin City, Gotham City, many cyberpunk stories
Crap Saccharine World: A world that seems nice and ordered on the surface, but underneath...it ain't pretty. Example: Brave New World, The Giver
Beware the Nice Ones: Forget that obviously mean dude. Sometimes, it's the ones you think are kind that can really turn on you!
