ABC's new sci-fi schedule: Superheroes! Aliens!
The ratings had to been really really terrible for Happy Town. I don't remember a mini series ever being canceled before?

Sci Fi Wire wrote:Superheroes are in, flash-forwards are out, and aliens have held their ground in ABC's 2010-11 lineup, as the network announced its plans for next season, picking up 10 new series and unveiling its fall schedule.
The new Michael Chiklis family superhero drama No Ordinary Family premieres this fall at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Tuesdays before the Dancing With the Stars results show. The series is about what happens when a normalish family is involved in a plane crash and somehow develops superhero-type powers. No Ordinary Family comes from executive producer Jon Feldman (Tru Calling) and stars Chiklis (The Shield), Dexter's Julie Benz, Romany Malco, Tate Donovan, Autumn Reeser and Christina Chang.
ABC also renewed V, which airs its season-one finale tonight. However, the alien invasion drama will return, along with several other series debuts, later in the 2010-11 season.
With Lost ending its six-year run and FlashForward and Happy Town both being canceled due to terrible ratings, it looks like No Ordinary Family is going to have a lot of work to do to keep sci-fi alive on ABC until V can find a timeslot.
The other canceled shows this season include Better Off Ted and Eastwick.
