A movie based on the Deadpool character starring Ryan Reynolds, who played the role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, is being developed by Fox, according to the Hollywood trades. This is in addition to the Wolverine sequel in development (see “Wolverine Sequel?) and a Magneto film currently planned for 2011.

Reynold’s Deadpool character was featured in one of two special Easter eggs after the credits (see “Two Wolverine Endingsâ€

I just shrieked a little in excitement.

But I haven't seen the Wolverine movie so I don't know if I'll love or hate this idea yet D:

What I've heard is the second surprise ending brings deadpool back to be closer to the one in the comics for how much they ruined him in the main movie... So it may not suck.

If Fox has their way with it, it will suck. I can only wish upon a star that this will somehow turn out to be good.

I expected that they were planning one. No surprise.

I like how I found out about the easter egg endings--after I saw the movie.

It's interesting how many X-Men movie rumors are in circulation. There's also that "First Class" (movie? show?), I heard.

I thought the movies were ok, but then again, I never read the comics and only know of the characters through the tv shows. So I don't know the extent of the damage Fox did to the chars o_O.

If only people would stop giving Fox money for this stuff, maybe they'd move on to something else.

If they use the Deadpool from the comics it's gonna be great.

Great. Now when the movie turns out to be utter suck, I'll get that stupid eyeroll from the person behind the counter every time I buy a Deadpool book.

There's a catch though. See, it'd be nice if we could say "If the Wolverine movie tanks maybe Fox will stop making these movies." However, it won't work like that. Because if Wolverine had done poorly at the box office, Fox would have said "It's because the movie was leaked onto the internet that our movie did so poorly, that proves piracy hurts businesses!"

So it was a lose-lose scenario this time.

Nah, us comic folks are understanding. Assuming you buy your Deadpool books from a comic book store, that is. (Psst, get the Deadpool "Games of Death" one-shot, it's freakin hysterical ]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1R5PhReY5k[/url]

Yeah, I love those bits too.

"Weapon X put a considerable amount of time and money into you."
"AND POINTY THINGS."

Deadpool? Rock! But only if they stay true to the source material.

I'll take "Things Not Likely to Happen" for $100, Alex.

It's about darn tootin' time they made a Deadpool movie. Hopefully they don't mess him up like they did in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
