Sci Fi Channel wrote:MTV News reports that casting for a live-action Star Wars TV series is currently underway.

News of the potential production first surfaced in 2005 while George Lucas was promoting Revenge of the Sith, but work on the Clones Wars animated feature film and Cartoon Network series took creative precedence. In late 2007, Lucas revealed that he and his team were about to begin writing scripts for the live-action show.

Acording to MTV News, Rose Byrne let slip during the junket for the Nicolas Cage thriller Knowing that Team Lucas is casting a wide net for actors to join the show. "A lot of my friends have been auditioning for it," she said.

Who knows, the tv series could be on the level of the new Battlestar Galactica series.

Oh who am I kidding, if this Star War tv series is anywhere near the level of the Battlestar Galactica. Then I'm a sugar frosted donut!

With cream!

Hopefully when George Lucas's ego swells so much that it causes several stars in the core planets to go supernova and kills everyone therein.

Ugh. This is so ridiculous. I'm so sick of Lucas's money-grubbing. Let it go, man. XD

I would remember this. He has a wife, children and co workers so he may very well be training them to take over after he is gone.
We may have Star Wars for years to come.
Star Trek has not ended and the creator of that series is dead.

The sad part is that originally, Lucas wanted to do a lot of independent films and sort of stay away from the corporate world of movies and Hollywood. Then he made Star Wars, which was a huge hit, and he became the corporate world of movies and Hollywood. It's so ridiculous that the man can't get any more ideas of movies to make if they don't involve Star Wars or Indiana Jones in some way. At least Spielberg has a wide array of films to back him; it's time for Lucas to grow up and move on to something new or nothing at all in movies, as far as I'm concerned.

Besides, he's got enough money to last his wife and children and children's children for years. XD

I was thinking, I'm sitting here in a basement waiting for Walmart to hire me- while Lucas is rolling in money, even if he's milking Star Wars for all it's worth... I'm doing something incorrectly in my life...

^ This happens. XD

Let's face it, he probably has so many different Star Wars related scripts that the movie makers will continue to make Star Wars movies long after he is dead. This whole thing is getting to be like Pokemon though... let it end already!

Not necessarily. XD There's a difference between success and flat-out greed. XD Not necessarily saying Lucas is greedy; I don't know his heart. But seriously, there's no reason for him to make more of these films or have anything else related to it when he could be doing something that's actually creative and not just existing to rake in more cash.

...

It could be good...?

Though I may want to switch to "Emergency Lord of the Rings Fan Mode", just in case.

In all honesty, I don't blame Lucas for milking the series for all it's worth. At all. I mean, if I could blow my nose on a napkin, draw a little Wookie next to it, and know that a movie deal would be worth millions upon millions, I'd jump on that faster than you can say "LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT THING".

(The snot ball, of course, being Anakin. BWAHAHA...sorry.)

He may have snapped after Star Wars III and now he's addicted and can't leave it alone. O_o

The New Jedi Order book could make interesting movies, though.

I have a feeling this show is just going to be another soap opera. -_-

Between Episode III and IV with the Rebel Alliance starting to form.

I heard that the series will air on HBO and Boba Fett will be it, just not how much screen time, he will have.

I like Star Wars but I'm kind of getting sick of it. Give me a real sword before a light saber any day (though it would be cool to have a real light saber :P).

The other thing about Star Wars. The novels, paperbacks and comicbooks about the series. There are so many of them that there could stories to use for Star Wars to come. There are even prequels of before Skywalkers and Solos and stories of children and grandchildren and maybe greatgrandchildren.

Hmm, kind of similar to Star Trek novels, no? XD

Some of those novels are better than the prequels.

I think that most of them are. I spent most of my Jr High days reading as many as I could get my hands on.

Actually, in retrospect, they are probably better than all of the Star Wars movies.

I have a very specific way in my mind of how movies 7, 8, and 9 need to go and Timothy Zahn is responsible for it. Basically, George Lucas needs to fire himself and put Timothy Zahn in charge of the script and story or, at the very least, plagiarize HEAVILY from Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy. He could even fast forward to the New Jedi Order since Han, Luke, and Leia are all old in it.

Except the Star Wars novels are actually canon. The Star Trek novels aren't canon.
