The Rat Patrol and Combat! are two of the best World War 2 series ever to air on American tv.Currently they air on American Life Network.Combat! airs
Mon.-Th. at 4 p.m. and again at 7 p.m.(Pacific)while The Rat Patrol airs
Tuesdays at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The Rat Patrol follows the adventures of a four man commando squad in the
North African desert as they commit acts of espionage, sabotage and anything else they can do to slow Rommel's Afrikan Korps.
Led by Sergeant Troy they often match wits against the Germans led by
Captain Deitrich.
The Rat Patrol consists of half hour episodes and so each week two different
half hour episodes are shown. Each episode ends in the word Raid.

Combat! takes place following D-Day and tells the story of one particuliar
platoon has they fight their way across France.Led by Lieutenant Hanley and
Sergeant Saunders(the late Vic Morrow).
Unlike The Rat Patrol there is no regular anagonist(unless you count the German army as a whole).

My late father-in-law's two favorite-most shows. He was also a huge John Wayne nut, especially his military movies.

I think it was a personal identification thing, since he was a WWII vet, and his older bro died in Bataan.

They were both made in the '60s so WWII was still pretty much in the national conscience, just like as in the '80s you got China Beach and
Tour of Duty.
I think I goofed though when I said that Combat was on Mon.-Th.I think it's on Mon.-Fri.
I was thinking of Mission:Impossible when I wrote that,but Mission:Impossible comes on at 5 p.m. and not 4 p.m. Friday.
